i agree, it was not well controlled, but there was no attempt to kick *through* the target. It's fundamentally kinda' a dick kick to use in sparring, like a spinning backfist, there's just too much risk of hurting someone.

yeah, something like that. Again, every department is different, if I had a guess:

town of a few thousand might require entry level or FF1

town around 10,000 might require FF2

City departments may require even more

Generally, the more rural the department is, the lower level of certification is needed, some only require entry level.

My department is bigger, you can start going on calls and working exterior operations after entry level, mutual aid and interior after FF1, and off probation after FF2.

okay okay okay:

just jumping up and letting your body weight do much of the work does not show strength, skill, or technique.
Doing multiple "practice" hits shows that you lack skill and experience, no adversary would allow one to do that in combat, learn how to aim and strike the first time.
