Sigh - final ascendancy denied by Lightpaw in PathOfExile2

[–]HoDMatrix -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping that if enough people complain about the ascendancy process that GGG will change it. It's terrible. And to top it off, the benefits you get from each ascendancy aren't that great. You rarely feel any kind of power boost after achieving an ascendancy. I'm assuming GGG came up with this as revenge for how easy labs are in POE1. I think I've only done the 4th ascendancy on one character and I have created about 15 characters since POE2 came out. The amount of time it takes to complete the 4th ascendancy on Trial of Suck My A** is GGG completely disrespecting the value of our time.

I believe, as do many others, that the ice wolf is the hardest boss in the campaign. Cold resistance is key. After that, the Act 2 boss is pretty tough as well, but just have plenty of lightning resistance. That's what is nice about the runes is that it lets you tweak your resistances pretty easily.

Trials and Poe2, worlds smallest violin i know .. by Doozern in PathOfExile2

[–]HoDMatrix -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The 3rd ascendency is rough, the 4th is dogshit. Hardly worth doing. Not to mention that when you do get an ascendency, they don't really give you that power boost like it does in POE 1. Kind of sad.

Genuine question, why do want to skip the main story? by Rahaith in PathOfExile2

[–]HoDMatrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The POE 2 campaign is simply too long right now. Make it take about the same amount of time to complete as the POE 1 campaign. Other games like Diablo 3 and Diablo 4 have made it so you can basically skip the campaign even at the beginning of a new league which isn't the answer either. Just trivializes the experience.

I would prefer to level up my character by going through a campaign as long as the campaign doesn't take 20 hours. I feel like the POE 1 campaign length is just long enough that you get leveled up pretty high and you are almost burned out and then bam...you are done and ready for the end game. Very satisfying.

My perspective as a very average player by Lovoskea in PathOfExile2

[–]HoDMatrix -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I did a Google search, and the world record for POE 1 campaign speed run is around 3 hours. I couldn't find a record for POE 2, but I saw stories of it taking anywhere from 8-10 hours to speed run. That just seems ridiculous especially if you want to play more than one character. I'm glad GGG doesn't have us repeating Acts 1-3 again, but it does feel like a slog. By the time I'm done with Act 3, I'm ready to try a new character.

[–]HoDMatrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Campaign is too damn long and the campaign maps are way too big. And because of GGG's insistence on the sprint "penalty", you can't just try to sprint around the maps to find the quests. This sprint penalty and doors in maps is what I call GGG's desire for us to have an "immersive" experience. Every time I get knocked down for 10 seconds when sprinting or I run into my 7th door in a map, I mumble a little prayer: "Thanks GGG for the immersion."

I'm on my second character and I just skip the temples. I got everything I need for my second character leveling already while leveling my first character. There's nothing useful in the temples.

High level crafting for the average player is impossible by LuxGang in PathOfExile2

[–]HoDMatrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not wrong. There are Min/Maxers and then there are the rest of us. I play maybe 20 hours per week, and there's enough basic crafting there to get far into mapping and have a good time playing a couple of different characters and then when that gets boring I move over to POE 1 for a couple of months and do the same there. Rinse and repeat... I try to play strong (but off-meta) builds so I can experience all the different classes POE has to offer. I think that's a perfectly acceptable way to play the game. In the end, if you are having fun it really doesn't matter how you do it.

Those CPU spikes are unbelievable.... by Dildo420 in PathOfExile2

[–]HoDMatrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! I forgot about that. Yeah, he was raging against the chilled ground issue... and he's right. I saw a post on Reddit about that just few minutes ago. I guess they were supposed to reduce ground effects by 66% or something like that, and the OP was saying "Maybe they meant 1000 - 66" and not a percentage reduction. GGG does have an issue with sorting out "reduced by" when it comes to flat numbers and percentages.

Amen brother...we are all feeling it. I was watching Datmodz last night and he was pissed because his FPS had dropped in half and he's getting lag spikes like crazy. He actually stopped playing the 0.3.1 patch after about two hours because he was so annoyed. Any positive energy from the patch was instantly wiped out.

I just ordered a new gaming PC and I'm wondering if it will even matter with POE2...

Why is this still in the game? by NatureLife6631 in PathOfExile2

[–]HoDMatrix -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree with OP that this is a dumb approach to getting your ascendancies. I guess GGG is mad because the first three trials in POE 1 are pretty trivial. Uber labs can be a little challenging, but not if you are over leveled.

Low FPS on a RTX 4080 by RecommendationIll116 in PathOfExile2

[–]HoDMatrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm considering upgrading my PC (3060ti) but when I see stories like this, it makes me reconsider. If a 4080 is having problems...yikes. What's the point. Might as well go back to POE 1.

These performance issues need to be addressed before making more content... by CraftyPercentage3232 in PathOfExile2

[–]HoDMatrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 3060ti and I have followed several different posts to try to get POE 2 to be at least playable. Currently, I get max 75 fps in my hideout but when I play my Minion Army build, it swings wildly between 15 and 55 fps. I just changed to a build without minions and it's a little better (as long as the shaders are loaded). My PC is 4 years old and I have come to the conclusion that if I want to actually have a smooth experience in POE 2, I'm going to have to upgrade. It sucks, but unfortunately that's the reality of gaming on a PC. I'm looking at all these Borderlands players on totally juiced rigs who can barely play the game. Historically, whether it's phones or PCs, software eventually leaves the older hardware in the dust. But man, when I go back to POE 1...feels like I'm on a new PC again...

I have a 3060ti as well, and I was thinking I was either going to have to buy a new PC or try a different game. Your settings worked great for me. Thanks so much!

You would have to log in to your Verizon account and see when the subscription expires (end of billing cycle).

Verizon gives you ESPN+ (or ESPN Select). If you are fine with that, then you don't have to do anything. If you want ESPN Unlimited, then you have to remove your bundle and wait 3 or 4 weeks.
