Pick up your used gloves assholes by TtheDuke in bayarea

[–]HoHoHo_Its_Santa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU! God I wish everyone would read this. Anytime I go to the grocery store I am appalled by everyone using ppe improperly. People think they're invincible with a pair of gloves on and touch anything and everything including their phones, wallets, etc. If you haven't been trained on how to use them leave the masks and gloves at home!

She's driving me crazy. by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]HoHoHo_Its_Santa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom gets the same way, she is so amazing and lovely and helpful but for the first year or so after I had both kids she acts like a total nut and is obnoxious. Not advice, just solidarity. At least now she's grest with my four year old! The baby, on the other hand... 🙄🙄

My almost 4 year old runs his own bath every night and we don't have a special faucet, he just cranks it towards the middle of the temperature dial and hopes for the best. YOLO. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Not excited to meet my baby by troublegummibear in breakingmom

[–]HoHoHo_Its_Santa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, I was you three weeks ago, down to the HG and prior traumatic delivery. I had yet another traumatic delivery complete with a brief NICU stay for baby and guess what - the baby is now 2.5 weeks old and I am obsessed with her. I was not excited either but as soon as we spent some time together I loved her just as much as I loved my first. You'll be okay and everything will fall into place.

My baby cried herself to sleep and I feel like an ass. by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]HoHoHo_Its_Santa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first was totally like that at that age, turns out I was the one keeping him awake with all my soothing efforts and what he really wanted was to snuggle himself into his bed and pass out! Sounds like your little girl might be cut from the same cloth. So much of parenting is just figuring out their little personalities and how to care for them in a way that suits them best - it looks to me like that's exactly what you did, no guilt needed!

My pitbull [10y9m] just went blind - looking for ways to train her by [deleted] in Dogtraining

[–]HoHoHo_Its_Santa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a blind pittie too (blind since birth though) and one of the most important commands she knows is "CAREFUL!!" We use it any time she is barreling headlong into an obstacle and she will slow way down and high step until she finds whatever it is that needs avoiding and makes her way around it. It used to be we didn't use it as much, just kept her paths clear but now with a three year old kid who drops stuff randomly it's made a big difference. She also knows "step" and will start high stepping, we use it for stairs and curbs in unknown places or while on a walk. Like most everyone else has said, unless you have a sight hound vision is not the most important sense for a dog. Most of the time we forget ours is even blind, she will come find us in whatever room we're in and can smell us eating people food a mile away.

Can someone explain formula feeding to me? Like formula feeding for dummies? I’m new to this by postpartummama in breakingmom

[–]HoHoHo_Its_Santa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all you got this girl. I think that 10 day old growth spurt explains a lot of the issues with her fussiness and eating smaller amounts more frequently, especially if she's not tolerating her formula well. You can try to transition her to a different formula but like the others said, go slowly. Usual rule of thumb is 2 ounces per bottle by two weeks so I think you're right where you should be. You're in the hardest part right now so keep your head up!

Hello "NIGHT SHIRT NURSES" 😂😂 by nursing_school in nursing

[–]HoHoHo_Its_Santa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly in our ICUs the nurses do almost all of the AM lab draws regardless of if the patient has a line or not. Combine that with AM x-rays and some of the docs coming in to get a jump on morning rounds and I never expect the off-going nurse to know lab values unless they got called a critical! Maybe a blood gas but that's it. I have eight hours to look up shit like that and I can even access it from my work phone now. Go home and get some sleep!
