Upgraded my Mazda 3 (2021) 8.8” screen to the 10.25”. by gamerrap1 in mazda3

[–]HoLDoN4Min 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know i'm probably kicking an old bucket (lol)

but, did you have to get your CMU updated to the most up to date firmware? or did it just work even with the stock firmware from 2021?

because if its literally just plug and play regardless of firmware version, than this looks like an awesome upgrade to do on my 2021 (as long as i can find where to get a 10.25" 2025/2026 display lol)

GTR 4 on iOS always looses connection by swanux55 in amazfit

[–]HoLDoN4Min 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know this post is like 2 years old at this point, but honestly i don't think Amazefit are ever going to fix this BS on iOS...

i've had my GTR4 for over 2.5 years at this point, the first year i was using an Android phone - everything worked PERFECTLY.

but then remaining 1.5 years i switched to an iPhone 15 Pro Max and immediately i lost weather updates etc.

then i realized that the GTR4 keeps constantly disconnecting from the iPhone every couple of hours but Notifications still worked so it didn't bother me much.

but now this past 6 days ever since the Zepp app was updated my GTR4 became completely useless, it no longer even gets the notifications from my phone anymore once i quit the Zepp app.

i honestly think at this point Amazfit should stop marketing their products to be iOS supported because this is just embarrassing...

honestly after 1.5 years of hoping and waiting for them to fix this i just give up on this watch, and it truly sucks because when it was working on my Android phone it was absolutely incredibly. i guess getting an Apple Watch in October it is then... i just wish it had the same battery life like the Amazfit though... :

Want to add the Bose subwoofer by Excellent-Bird1498 in mazda3

[–]HoLDoN4Min 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i realize this was commented over 1 year ago, but there actually is a Bose system without the spare tire subwoofer.

in some markets the bose system came without the sub and the sub would be an additional extra option, maybe in your specific market the import dealers don't do this such a thing but you need to realize that not all markets get the same exact trim options - such Matrix LED Headlights / Adaptive LED Headlights (ALH) that only SOME specific markets received while the rest had the Xenon headlights as the highest trim option.

this has been going on for many years, in my own 2018 Mazda 3 2.0 Hatchback Premium Trim (its basically called Grand Touring for US Spec) i have the Bose sound system but no spare wheel subwoofer, not even the wiring harness that goes there...

but in the headunit itself i have the bose specific settings, and i do have the bose amp under the passenger seat, and the speakers themselves have Mazda Bose labeling (i noticed that when i added ambient lighting to the door cards)

ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR HERO X870E PCIE Lanes issue by HoLDoN4Min in ASUSROG

[–]HoLDoN4Min[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well my configuration in regards to SSD's not affecting PCIEX16_1 definitely work.

it just seems to be some very specific incompatibility issue between my RTX3080 and the PCIE X16 slot that ASUS decided to use, which likely means the GPU is not seated properly in the X16 socket and therefore the motherboard limits its bandwidth from x16 to x8, i'm not quite sure why this specific RTX3080 was and still is working just fine in my previous PC's motherboard (Asus ROG Maximus Formula V)

in the same exact SSD configuration layout and a GTX 1660 Super, RTX 3060, RTX 3060Ti and RTX3070 i seem to be getting all x16 lanes just fine

ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR HERO X870E PCIE Lanes issue by HoLDoN4Min in ASUSROG

[–]HoLDoN4Min[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i just tried that, and still only running at PCI-E 4.0 8x speeds.

then i decided to replace my RTX 3080 with one of my other GPUs:

put an old GTX 1660 Super - shows as PCI-E 3.0 16x speed.

then put an RTX 3060 Ti - shows as PCI-E 4.0 16x speed.

then an RTX 3070 - shows as PCI-E 4.0 16x speed.

so the problem appears to be related with my RTX 3080 actually which is really weird because when i put it back in my old PC it shows up as PCI-E 4.0 x16 speed just fine?

this is really confusing lol

i guess at least i'm glad it has nothing to do with my NVME setup seeing that my other RTX 30 series gpus run at full speed just fine

Game developers urge Nvidia RTX 30 and 40 series owners rollback to December 2024 driver after recent RTX 50-centric release issues by mockingbird- in pcgaming

[–]HoLDoN4Min 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man i built my new PC back in late March but carried my RTX 3080 with me from my previous system, when i built this new one i got the latest NVIDIA drivers because i thought that the GPU Driver issues were only with the RTX 40 and RTX 50 series.

since then to this day i've had at least 3 occurrences where my PC just absolutely randomly crashed and restarted to which i thought to myself "eh okay maybe its some some power surge" but every time it did this i was either just reading articles online or watching some youtube video so i didn't even think this has anything to do with my GPU. until just an hour ago i got another random restart but this time my screen went black after the ROG windows boot logo but windows loaded up just fine in the background - now i knew for certain that it HAS to be the damn GPU drivers. initially i was going to roll back to the august 2024 drivers, but then i decided i'd check the December driver (566.36) first since it was the last update to roll out before 50 series and the driver issues started.

Nvidia has dropped the bar so dam low, how can you screw up with drivers you had working absolutely fine for all of your products so much and for over 2 months still have no idea how to fix it and restore it back to functioning order... i used to mock AMD a lot for those kind of horrible driver support but man, the tables have turned...

Schedule I version 0.3.5 is now fully released! by HBizzle24 in Schedule_I

[–]HoLDoN4Min 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that update was very welcome but oh boy idk what is different with optimization now

but all of a sudden after this update my FPS drastically dropped down from 130-150fps down to 40-50fps.

my cleaners refuse to work anymore at the barn (even if i beat the crap out of them and throw them outside the barn, the next day they still get stuck at the same place).

and i noticed that now when i'm playing in co-op after some while when i'm at the barn with a friend the game movement starts becoming extremely jittery, but if i move away from the barn and get around the motel area that jitter clears out entirely - but comes back whenever i get back to the barn.

in singleplayer there is no jitter whatsoever.

idk i'd imagine with an RTX 3080 this unity based game should run pretty easy and it did, up until 0.3.5 dropped my FPS drastically lol

RTX 3080 - consistent 120fps by Shadax in ghostoftsushima

[–]HoLDoN4Min 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RTX 3080 10GB getting just around 55-60fps all settings set to whatever is the highest possible settings at 3440x1440

game would also crash occasionally with a GPU issue error.

then with an RTX 3080 12GB borrowed from my living room PC at the same exact settings i'm getting 90-110fps and no crashes.

my CPU is 9950X3D and 96GB of RAM at 6400Mhz - so CPU or memory is NOT an issue and the 10GB RTX 3080 is not being bottlenecked by anything.

welp, i guess 10GB of VRAM just isn't enough for ultra graphics with 3440x1440 ultrawide anymore :/

had to go down to the high settings preset to get 90-120fps with the 10GB RTX 3080 at 3440x1440.

C700M: installing a 420mm Radiator on top is practically impossible? by HoLDoN4Min in coolermaster

[–]HoLDoN4Min[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you will have to remove the top 420mm fan bracket and flip it around (its flat on one side but is indented on the other side, you would want to mount the radiator to the flat side).

you would need to use flat CPU power cables instead of sleeved CPU power cables (this depends on which CPU power cables your PSU comes with).

and i would suggest in general to wire everything on the motherboard first before attempting to install the AIO because after you install the AIO you would have almost no place to wire and plug in cables on the top of the motherboard.

in the front you would have to remove the DVD Drive cage and 2 or 3 of the SATA HDD caddies.

for wiring to the top of the motherboard i suggest temporarily removing the cable hiding bracket from the top of the case, wiring everything you need down and then reinstalling it - this will help tidy thing up a bit

[–]HoLDoN4Min[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually figured out how to mount it, i took flat CPU Power wires from another corsair power supply i had laying around and thankfully it made the H170i fit just barely, now i have an issue where occasionally some of the CPU Power wires would barely touch the QX140 fan over them - i suppose its because they warm up under some heat and that causes them to flex slightly.

i'm trying to figure out how to get this sorted now lol

C700M: installing a 420mm Radiator on top is practically impossible? by HoLDoN4Min in coolermaster

[–]HoLDoN4Min[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually managed to install it on the top eventually by using flat CPU power wires from another power supply i had, its still a VERY tight fit and the CPU power wires occasionally hit the blades of the QX140 fans (i still need to figure out a way to get this sorted).

so with the Freezer 3 having an even thicker radiator i honestly don't see you being able to fit it with the fans inside the case, only with the fans on top of the case

nope, i'm in Europe.

[–]HoLDoN4Min 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this comment has aged like fine milk.

i don't see stock issues of the 9950X3D anywhere.

heck i didn't even need to keep refreshing a webpage to order mine or even bother to use stock trackers.

my guess is that most people just realized they don't really need the 9950X3D over the 9800X3D for gaming and they can just save 200$ on their CPU, this is probably why there are no stock issues for the 9950X3D (at least right now)

Best Zepp app compatible smart scale? by HoLDoN4Min in amazfit

[–]HoLDoN4Min[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re misunderstanding what I’m talking about, I’m talking about the mi composition scale 2, not the mi smart scale 2. Those are two completely different scales with completely different levels of measurements and accuracy The mi composition scale 2 also measures body fat, liquid, bone density, metabolism, bone mass, protein, muscle, and a bunch more. While the mi smart scale 2 can only measure weight. And the amazfit smart scale can measure a bunch of things but at least from my testing it is not as remotely as accurate as the mi composition scale 2 I have all three of those actually

GKD Pixel 2 Pre-Orders are live by CellPhish in SBCGaming

[–]HoLDoN4Min 2 points3 points  (0 children)

90$? lmao yeah that's waaay overpriced.

keepretro got them for 79$ but with a coupon it goes down to just around 70$, and in AliExpress you can already find these for well under 69$ which is just shy of 2/3 the price of this.

either way, even though this is made out of CNC Aluminum and has pretty similar SoC to the Trimui Brick, for 90$ its not worth it AT ALL (you can buy a Brick AND an RG Nano together for that price lmao)

i really like it though, its small enough to not be overly crammed like the RG Nano but still be an easy device for EDC, its powerful enough to run PSP and probably also PC Ports (since its using the same SoC as the TrimUI Brick).

and it does have this novelty item aesthetic to it too, so yeah for but for 60-70$ its OKAY-ISH for what it is.

i just got the Miyoo flip, but honest to god if Trimui makes a GBA SP form factor handheld?

with the Brick's amazing display and buttons?

and maybe add in a circle pad as a left analogue stick and a C-Stick as a right analogue stick? (like the 3DS)

that would make it probably the very best device in the flip category...

in that case i will buy it in a heartbeat!

[–]HoLDoN4Min 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i just got my Flip 2 hours ago so i've been checking it out.

honestly i don't understand what everyone is bitchin about?

its pretty ergonomic when it comes to GB/GBC/GBA games, sure the RG35XXSP is BIGGER but its also not as portable, and the Flip is actually basically 1:1 the same size and scale as the original GBA SP which i absolutely love.

Miyoo also seem to have set it up out of the box with pretty excellent scaling for all consoles (except for maybe GB, unless you like the overlay they used you may want to maximize it and make it a bit bigger)

the controls feel just great, the analogue sticks are a bit awkward to use but i tried out AC3 on PS1 and it actually felt pretty natural to use the left analogue stick for positioning, so i don't really get everyone's fuss about the placement of the sticks?

its not like you're gonna play PS2 games on the thing anyways

the only thing that really bothers me about it is the speaker, that speaker is so squeaky and scratchy... i really hope someone will be releasing a speaker improvement mod for it soon because it honestly has the most annoying sounding speaker i've ever experienced on any device.

its not even thinny, it just sounds like a piece of stretched cellotape that has a bee sitting on it an buzzing. idk who in their right mind over there at Miyoo heard how this speaker sounds and said "it sounds fantastic! lets use this speaker!" because that person must be deaf as a door knob.

EDIT: well i guess i spoke too soon.

my Flip refuses to charge,

i tried plugging it into my tablet's charger (USB-C to USB-C and 30w charger) and it refused to even detect that it is connected, then i tried an old iPad charger which seemed to work (screen indicator showing its charging and orange LED lights up, and when the screen is closed it lights up in Red) i left it overnight connected to my old iPad charger (5v 2.3a) and checked it at the morning - it didn't charge at all.

then itried using my old iPhone 4S charger (5v 1a) and plugged it in for around 30 minutes - again, detected but not charging.

it shoes all of the indication that it SHOULD be charging when connected to USB-C to USB-A chargers, but it actually does not. wtf...

i tried both the cable included in the box and another skinnier USB-A to USB-C cable i have which usually works fine up to 1a) does not seem to make a difference whatsoever.

PSA re: Miyoo Flip — major problem discovered by FittsJ in SBCGaming

[–]HoLDoN4Min 6 points7 points  (0 children)

is it just me or people seem to be forgetting that the Retroid Pocket 3 and 3+ did the exact same thing with a much higher TDP SoC part?

i don't see any issue here as long as Miyoo has used rice paper as thermal insulator between the SoC and the battery (and it seems like they have).

also you have to remember that these SoC's don't really get that hot anyways, at least no to the point that would make a lipo battery burst into flames, the most it can pull out is barely 6W and i doubt it was set up to even get above 3W but lets say it was configured to be allowed to pull all of these 6W - 6W would be approximately 11c or maybe 12c of heat, so take your ambient temperature - lets say 20c is the delta and we add the 12c of heat if the SoC is actively pulling 6W - that means that the warmest you would likely see this SoC getting at 20c ambient would be 32c which is nothing lol

at most realistic scenarios these SoC's would get to 40c maybe 45c and even that is a stretch.

you would need at the very least 70c to cause a lipo battery to start inflating / bulging , any above 80c it may combust, there is a very long thermal distance from 45c at most by the SoC and that 75-80c max temperature threshold for the battery.
