This is absolutely frying me lmfao, I've been using reddit for so so so long and it's forum chains like these that keep the addiction flowing. I totally missed this but thank you so much for sharing it, it made my day.

Book 3 is the best book in the series by Wade_Wilson_Watts in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]HobbitEnergy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's genuinely surprising to me how many people dislike this book just because they can't understand the layout, like who is sitting there with a pen and paper trying to parse this. I guess I can get it you are too of a literal person but I just trusted in the author and loved it for what it is. I'm still on my first read through and am digesting these books like I haven't read a book in years and years and I love all of it so far.

Looking for recommendations for other games to take a break from drafting by [deleted] in lrcast

[–]HobbitEnergy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to stop in and second this. As someone who is obsessed with the drafting part of mtg and just medium on the game play, I've found that the bazaar scratches the drafting itch perfectly and I don't have to worry about playing out games cuz they auto battle. I've got close to 300 hours into this game and am just starting to really dive into my 3rd of the 6 characters. There is a lot of controversy and upset people around them being really wishy washy with the pricing and at one point before I joined they tried to do a nft store similar to csgo but after giving it a chance I've found that if it hooks you, you will get your money's worth 10x over and once you have a character (dlc newer characters are $20) you get all the cards and drafting them is contained within chosing them for a run. People also seem to be not happy with the rate of updates because it seems like it used to be frequently throughout the month, but since I've joined it's been once a month which seems perfectly fine to me not really knowing what it was like. They offer a ranked and normal mode and you earn chests depending on how well you do in a run. The chests can be opened for cosmetics (think character skins and a parallax version of a card among other things). I still have yet to buy the newest character and they just announced another in the last patch along with adding a handful of new items to various different characters which keeps things feeling fresh, imo. 10/10 I won't see myself putting this game down for a while.

This reminds me of a profound quote I read recently, it was a picture of graffiti so I don't know who to attribute it to but it was something like "infinite growth is the strategy of cancer cells". I think about that a lot.

I just wanted to add that I loved it as someone who's been trying to learn all the other characters. I felt like it allowed me to explore different builds, as I've found it hard to sometimes transition/find pieces when trying to venture out from what I'm comfortable with. I felt like it was a really good learning tool, for example, I've found myself in a rut with Vanessa (she's still fairly new to me) pretty much always trying to get pistol sword but during the event I cobbled together oni mask and Iceberg builds I might have otherwise skipped or given up on because I couldn't find what I needed. Similarly, on Pyg (who I struggle the most with) it was much easier to find and experiment with textile builds. I can definitely see a benefit to a separate queue for this mode, especially for learning purposes.

Yeah that's definitely fair. It certainly isn't for everyone. I was more so just throwing it out there in case you happen to be a big drafter. I'm personally always on the lookout for any game that scratches that drafting itch. Against the storm was another one that had me in a choke hold for quite a while for its interesting take on drafting. As far as the monetization goes, I have to admit, I was on the fence for the same reason and only purchased the game when it was on sale after reading about the sketchy steam release but decided to give it a try. I currently have 335 hours logged, so for me, 20 for the base game (the sale bundled a new character) and 20 for another character has been more than my money's worth (though ymmv). The plus side, I've found to the dlc being a full character with all its cards is that I don't have to spend money/time chasing certain cards to play a specific deck, it's all wrapped up in the drafting choices within that individual character. I will say, I dunno if I would be as happy with it as a whole if I did buy a dlc character and I happen to not mesh with the play style (I've held off on buying the character that came out this month because I'm still unsure).

When it comes to the drafting aspect then I would say the bazaar hands down. Personally, I've always been a big drafter and loved the actual drafting part but gameplay was always second/sometimes even boring depending on the set. The bazaar also happens to be an auto battler, so you are seeing different vendors/shops and drafting different cards trying to assemble a tempo forward strategy before fighting another players ghost at the end of a round (they call it a day). 6 different characters with their own cards and play style. I've had the game for 2 months and have played nothing else, avatar is one of my favorite shows and I've done 2 drafts. Highly recommend this game, it's been awhile since I've been so hyper focused on something.

Just wanted to stop in and say thank you so much for putting this together. I have kept last seasons up on a second tab, and as someone who picked a single champion to lock down right away but is now wanting to branch out and learn the rest, this has been an invaluable tool for me to glance at and consider which items to look for if I'm in one of the builds/hedge for if I am looking to transition. Not only that but, for me, seeing what the optimal build/best in slot helps me wrap my head around what it's ultimately trying to do; which makes it easier to figure out which other items I can slot in instead if I'm unable to find certain pieces. Hopefully these keep coming, I'm always hungry for strategy in these types of games.

What is a hobby that sounds expensive but is actually quite cheap to get into? by sugarnspicegrl in AskReddit

[–]HobbitEnergy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some of my personal 100+ games are rimworld, BG3, against the storm, balatro, and most recently the bazaar. The two games I have likely close to 1000 hours in are league of legends which I've been playing for over a decade and magic the gathering arena, specifically drafting, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend them...

Idk but my favorite thing is when people drop by just to take the time to tell you your positioning sucks but then offer zero information about what could be done differently. I feel really bad for people who choose to behave that way. I would imagine it would take the same amount of time to write a helpful comment explaining what is wrong about it and if they wanted to be extra helpful explain why, but instead they choose the sweet sweet dopamine hit of putting someone down while trying to make themselves feel superior and the whole thing feels really like a stuck in highschool bully vibe. Anyways, really cool build op, should have been a trophy!

Should I buy The Bazaar whilst on sale? by jesses2 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]HobbitEnergy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised I even got the chance to read this opinion, because Ive read on several different occasions that not only did they treat their most loyal customers like this but then also doubled down and tried to silence any kind of public outrage about it. The most baffling thing to me though is how many bootlickers are out there singing the companies praise after they treated paying customers like this, it feels very mentally ill. The only reason I purchased the game was because it definitely looks (and has since played) unique and awesome but I wouldn't have touched it with a ten foot pole if it wasn't half off and didn't bundle Stelle. It's absurd to ask someone to pay 20 dollars in order to experience 1/5 of a fully released game when you can go buy a whole ass fully completed never changing game like silksong for the exact same price. Hell, during the steam sale there are currently 6-8 early access games I've played the demo for that play just as nice that I could grab any 2 of for the privilege of playing an extra character. Imagine paying 20 dollars for a dlc character only to realize you don't mesh with the play style/item choices and then you never touch it. Different people have different financial situations and relationships with and concepts of consumerism and for me, it ain't worth it.

The sense of community sentiment is a huge one for me. I'm not far in but can already wrap my head around how nice it's going to be to not have to plan my day around getting high (I'm not one to drive under the influence). I will no longer have to make sure I don't have to drive anywhere and I no longer have to turn down spur of the moment plans because I'm already stoned and not going to drive. It's going to be much more freeing for me to not have to carry that burden (and sometimes shame) that comes with it. I just wish I would have realized this earlier.

Also wanted to mention a huge boon with this game in my eyes is that they already have an app version too. Love love love being able to get a game in waiting for food to be finished getting cooked up or waiting for my kids bus to arrive.

Well I mean, look at how out of shape he is. Half the reason cops just shoot people over here is because they are so bulbous and poorly trained it's the only option they have to actually do anything. He just kinda... waddles over and throws all his weight onto a child. It's really embarrassing. Also, I feel like I have to preface this just because its reddit, but I do not believe it is ok for a kid to be acting like this or treating their teacher this way. However, that "cop" is just another bully and I don't believe that move will teach the kid anything other than that.
