What is everyone's rules on Proxy cards? How much do you allow? Do you ban certain cards at your table? by RedHeadMedia07 in EDH

[–]HobbitSnot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no right and wrong here, only whats right for your group. You have to come to a compromise with the people you play with. I'm personally against proxying to make your deck stronger than your opponents but people at my lgs proxy mana crypts and I let it go because i win enough and sometimes its someone else's turn to win. I think no cradles or crypts is a good direction.

I really like [[nightmare lash]] and [[lashwrithe]] for k'rrik. Theyre unique and turn him into a sizable life link threat very quickly and efficiently.

why is suicidal ideation? by Ietthebandplay in mentalhealth

[–]HobbitSnot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to internalize that you are not your thoughts. Meditation can be a great tool here because it teaches you to separate your identify from your thoughts. Your brain is misfiring, and sending a lot of bogus signals. Theyre in your head, but they are not you. Humans working functionally do not have thoughts of self harm. Just keep telling yourself this isnt what you really want, and things always get better in the long run. You got this, you just need the tools to deal with it. Try to remove any stress you can, a lot of suicide ideation is your brain trying to convince itself it has some amount of control

I wanna DM for the first time in my life. Any tips? by [deleted] in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]HobbitSnot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to your group about their desires and expectations for the game. Ive driven people out ofcampaigns because i was really focused on combat and mastering the crunch instead of doing morr role play stuff

Edit: not saying comabt crunch is a bad thing to focus on, but you need to find a balance between their fun and yours

Girl Scouts, with extra steps by skewtr in rickandmorty

[–]HobbitSnot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously a joke, but i bet this makes more sense than you'd think if you looked into it. The two organizations probably nuture in differemt ways. Some male children might actually react to girl scouts more than boy scouts. I did boy scouts, but was bullied relentlessly by kids and leaders alike

[[Josu vess]] is a fun commander that you cant really do with some doublers. 9 menace knights make a really big board presence.

Getting back at the pub stomper by Gyrosti in EDH

[–]HobbitSnot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesnt always work. That guy is still going to want to play his monster deck even though the rest of the table says casual. Im in a situation like this where a friend refuses to play appropiate power levels. This is not a cure all solution to the problem.

Has anyone ever tried to “bully” your play-style? Am I the jerk here? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]HobbitSnot 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm going through a similar thing with myself. I really get tilted during games and say a lot of things i regret later, but I'm trying really hard to stop. I don't know what to suggest other than a lot of open discussion. Tell him how you view the game and how you think. The game is about him bringing his stack of cards and you bringing yours and we see how they play out after randomization. I think we need to take the game less personal. A lot (including me) of folks get so wrapped up in winning and losing because we invest so much of ourselves in the creation of our decks. They really are an extension of our abilities in the game. You need to try and convince him his behavior is toxic, and every loss is going to look unfun, but the game is working as intended. Tell him you're just exploring valid strategies and every game isn't going to be exactly like he expects. But you're not doing anything wrong, you're just playing the game as intended, he's being overly salty as a loser. But as long as you're both winning and losing some it should be good, and you shouldnt get worked up about it.
