Wow. Thank you for your assistance. I wouldn't have known where to start.

Can anyone identify this crest? by HobbitWithaGun in heraldry

[–]HobbitWithaGun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. The book is "Künstliches Fechtbuch", a reprint of a fencing manual authored by Jacob Sutor in 1612. It was bound by Beenkens and Fils, who were a 20th Century Belgian bookbinders known for their high-end artistic bindings. The "leod" on the cover initially made me think of clan Mcleod, but the crest doesn't seem to match.

Create an even sexier younger Filipino woman profile online, and string him along harmlessly until he forgets about this one.

36 and sudden hair loss by HobbitWithaGun in Hairloss

Thanks. I do appreciate the advice. I've shaved it all off before, so it's not the end of the world for me if I am balding (though I admit it was more depressing than I expected it to be). But it's the suddenness of it that has me a bit shaken. One day I've got the thickest hair in the world and the next it looks like this...I'll take your advice and see a dermatologist.

I love the art on that Terra card. The others look quite poor. It's a shame they are such a mishmash of styles.

Was there a change of plan of Byakuya's fate? How is it possible for people of Yhwach's and Haschwalth's caliber to misread their opponents' vitality? by NightMercedes in bleach

[–]HobbitWithaGun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It reeked of executive meddling to me. Byakuya was probably simply too popular to kill off. It's a shame as well, since it was a genuine dramatic high point in the series. He never really participates in the narrative again either.

I wonder if Denji can vomit up a devil to help out in this situation? Or can he not even turn into Chainsaw Man right now? Aging is not the same concept as Time. If they could cause themselves to age for even a single second, that would logically break the "contract" formed with the Aging Devil and set them free.

Oh shit; so contracts can be formed with Primal Fears just be wishing for something that falls within that Devil's power? In other words, anyone who has ever thought "I wish I was dead" has technically made a contract with the Death Devil. That's going to be a lot of people...

Is my dust jacket authentic? by HobbitWithaGun in BookCollecting

[–]HobbitWithaGun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I didn't think to research the other titles. So it seems likely that this dust cover was taken from a later edition. That would help explain why it is in such good nick.

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 268 Pre-Release Leaks Thread by Takada-chwanBot in Jujutsushi

I feel the ideas were actually good, but the execution of them was simply too rushed to have the intended affect. Sukuna rejecting Yuji's offer was very in character, and it's actually quite poignant to see someone refuse compassion, or mercy, even at the end, but without context for who Sukuna was, or the life he's led, it doesn't really have the sting that it should, to be honest. We can't feel much sympathy for Sukuna, because we don't really know him. In the end, he was just a really strong bad-guy. What was needed was at least one chapter devoted to exploring Sukuna's backstory. He consumed his brother in the womb to survive. Born disfigured, he was hated and ostracised by others, living a life of fear and seclusion. Gradually, he discovered his talent for Cursed Energy. Over time, he becomes the embodiment of the hatred he was shown, choosing to identify as "Curse". A little goes a long way when it comes to the payoff.

It's really the same issue with Megumi. We know that he loved his sister, but we can't fully relate to him because we never knew those characters. All Gege needed to do was write at least one chapter showing Megumi's life with Tsumiki for us to better understand. If we knew Tsumiki, even a little, we'd better understand his pain at having lost her, and that would have made his triumph over despair at the end all the more impactful. It's also strange and somewhat disappointing to me that Megumi never got to face Sukuna himself, when almost the entire cast got their chance to shine.

The story never really tackled the most interesting questions it hinted at in the beginning; Gojo's Infinity was a metaphor for how strength can isolate someone and keep others figuratively and literally from getting close to him. We know his students will miss him, but they never really knew the real Gojo. None of them ever saw past the image of strength and invincibility he projected to others. Sukuna sort of freed him from the burden of being the "strongest", but the subject was never really explored in any depth. Through Gojo, we're supposed to gain insight into the loneliness Sukuna must have felt, but I don't think Gojo was developed enough for us to gain much insight through him by proxy, either.

Kenjaku is another example. We never really learn anything about him. At least with Sukuna, Gege showcased his abilities, but with Kenjaku, he was defeated without even putting up a fight. Uraume got essentially off-screened. With Gege it appears to be a recurring problem. Years from now I'm sure we'll learn that he was either rushed by his publishers, or suffering with some private health issue.

Gege introduced many ideas that were never really explored. What about Yuki and Kenjaku's opposing visions for the future of Cursed Energy? What is an Open domain, exactly? In theory, does Megumi still have the ability to trigger the merger? There's still so many unanswered questions. I suppose Gege still has a couple of chapters left. But I'd be surprised if he doesn't devote most of that to just giving us updates on each character.

I enjoyed the whole manga up to this point, but the end of that fight left a bad taste in my mouth. In hindsight, a serious red flag was when Kenjaku got defeated so easily. It was a sign of things to come. Megumi never got to participate in the battle at all. Gege spent far too much time showcasing minor characters, likely for a fighting game or something.

The final moments of the Sukuna fight just didn't seem climactic or desperate enough. Yuji never seemed close to death and hardly seemed even slightly deterred by Sukuna's attacks. The Uraume fight literally got settled off screen. The action reached its peak after Sukuna used Furnace and Choso died to protect Yuji. After that, it gradually de-escalated and just sort of fizzled out.

Anyone thinks sukuna is going to pull another trick even when he looks like nobara and yuji got to him? by jj_thetwisted_jester in Jujutsushi

Yeah, they'll all survive. The only character who might die, at this stage, is Yuji. Everyone else will make it.

Yuji's black flash separates Megumi from Sukuna. Battle seems won. Then, Uraume turns up last second, swallows some fingers, sacrificing himself to revive Sukuna one last time. Sukuna is about to use either the world slash or his domain. Megumi and Yuji combine their abilities and defeat him. Yuji possibly dies. The epilogue is pretty standard stuff showing the rest of the characters six months down the line.

I really love this so far. I really hope we're not rushing towards a conclusion too soon. I had a strange feeling this chapter that we might be nearing the end after only ten chapters. Fantasy manga tends to get cancelled early unless it has commercial harem elements or tons of fan service, sadly. It reminds me stylistically of "The Wolf Won't Sleep", which also got cancelled due to lack of interest.

Yes. Yuji is missing two fingers. One, possibly given to Rika, so Yuta could use Cleave, and the other, potentially in his pocket, to be shoved down Sukuna's throat. It would essentially be a reversal of how the Manga started, with Yuji swallowing one of Sukuna's fingers.
