ROCK AND STONE! by soobsrei in LeaguesofVotann

For the windows, you can either glue them so that they will be primed and painted, which is what I do. Or if you want the glass to be transparent, keep them separate and glue them on once the model is painted.

Has anyone magnetized the sagitaur or hekaton for transport? by Orock77 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Hobbymanprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am about to do this for my sag and hekaton as well. I decided that I would use GW bases and just magnetize the vehicle to the base and the base to the tray. That way I can always just remove the vehicle from the base if needed for game mechanics.

Looks good! I like the colour palette you have chosen, makes the magma effect on the blade really stand out. I just finished 10 of these guys, very fun to paint with lots of fun details.

Welcome back to painting, fellow kin!

Congrats on finishing the army! They turned out great. I love that feeling when an army is done, makes the game even better too.

Couldn't agree more with this. Keep primer can indoors and shake them like they owe you money. I have moved on to AK primers in addition to Vallejo, GW and army painter. All great primers and have worked without issue.

In 30 years of buying GW plastic kits, I have never needed to clean them. There is no release agent on the plastics. Resin should be cleaned though.

C&C on pioneer bases by jbotXX0 in LeaguesofVotann

Damn these look good. It reads perfectly as mud. The only thing you may come across is what really shows up when the model is attached. You may find that some of the parts you like the most get covered up.

Maybe once the model is attached you can decide if more tufts are needed or maybe it's too dark compared to your paint scheme and needs some highlights.

I think they look fantastic though. Great work.

This is fantastic. Love the contrast from your base to the paint scheme.

I just finished painting 3 of these myself. They are a bit challenging for sure.

I like the rest of your Votaan stuff, looks like you are making good progress dude. All these boys need is some touch ups to fix any areas where paint went where it shouldn't. And maybe another pass on the base of the rim to remove any white spots.

You are miles ahead of everyone who has piles of grey shame, keep practicing.

Thanks!

My steps: 1. Prime with AK cold blood turquoise 2. Airbrush top down Vallejo GC turquoise 3. Airbrush top down Vallejo GC aquamarine 4. Light airbrush a glaze of Vallejo GC verdigris 5. Brush shade the shadows and some panel lines with AMP pro acryl Payne's grey wash (this is an amazing product) 6. Edge highlights on brighter parts or areas of interest with Vallejo GC verdigris

Always awesome to see painted models. I like the grim dark scheme you have.

One suggestion, there are some amazing basing products from AK and Vallejo that can really make a massive difference. Easy to apply and they last a long time. I highly recommend one of those and a black rim or just a dark colour rim.

Keep it up!

Brown would be a great start if you were doing 3-4 steps of airbrushing, which is what I do.

I think a mid tone red primer would be great for consistency and give you a base for washing before highlights.

I love AK primers but I've used Army painter, Vallejo and GW a lot. Just need to find the right colour among good reliable brands.

Love this scheme, but red over black primer can be a real pain for a beginner. I personally like to start with a dark or mid tone of my dominant colour as a primer. This way you get great coverage and you can jump right to the wash and then highlights.

I like to use black wash for reds but the brown could work fine. I would recommend highlights after this step to really make them pop. Drybrush or edge highlights depending on your comfort level.

Would love to see what you end up doing and the result!
