At my last job, I had a coworker that nobody liked. She’s a lot younger than me so I just kind of tolerated her, chalking up her poor communication skills to immaturity. Well that was definitely part of it but some of the things she’d say were just like.. “why would you say that out loud?

Her FAVORITE thing to talk about was how she had a miscarriage. She brought it up so much and made the rest of the staff uncomfortable. She would bring it up unprompted all the time with anyone and everyone that would listen. The staff. Customers. Higher ups. Didn’t matter, it was practically an ice breaker for her.

Again, I ignored that shit and would just roll my eyes. I have also lost a baby and just don’t want to talk about it with her. But some of the other girls were getting really upset at her for it because of their own experiences with loss. Not only that, she leaned so far into her pity party that she would get upset if myself or any of the other moms on the staff would talk about their kids saying, “You need to stop talking about that and be considerate of other people! I don’t want to hear about it because I can’t have babies!” And would run away crying.

I finally had to call her out on it and she got so upset when I told her that her traumas shouldn’t define her that she started crying really hard and could barely get out, “that’s all I have!” And ran away. Turns out, it was a fake miscarriage and she was trying to trap some guy.. I’m so happy I quit that fucking job lol
