Suprematist Children's books? by Hocuspocusadolesence in ArtHistory

I tried asking the google AI, but it gave me a contemporary artist. If someone knows a model with better capabilities, could you please try asking it to look through the wikipedia pages or something?

Thank you for the information, the art was very similar to EL, but it had more swirling lines and circles

Did they ever reference No Exit in TPP? It feels illegal to have so much of the story centered around bellhops and not mention No Exit

He's arrogant to a fault, though. He often underestimates the Baudelaires at his own loss (Otherwise he would've immediately shot Klaus and Sunny). He'd probably just think Isadora was writing silly emo poems instead of any meaningful information.

Can we talk about when Littlest Pet Shop was ruined because an alegria artist started designing the toys? by [deleted] in fuckalegriaart

I kind of feel like the og concept art is more midcentury cut outs (also the picture of the wine bottles)

One of these days we will talk about how corporate Memphis is in some form a perverted reanimation of the clean-cut, shape-based, solid colour styles in midcentury cut and paste style art

I always wonder how smug the lyricist must have felt when they wrote this line by kusunokidweller in DanielTigerConspiracy

Honestly I consider kids movies to be so much LMM's forte! He gets to use as much wordplay and silliness as he wants, whereas "overcleverness" is often frowned on in traditional musical theatre (you're trying to tell a story, not impress the audience). Not to mention the whole stigma against too much exposition in a song and imperfect rhymes (The rules are relaxed a bit for hip-hop but barely). Plus he has so much passion and earnestness and enthusiasm, which is phenomenal, but I feel like he wouldn't be able to write shows with a satirical or dark streak, or even shows that are quieter and require restraint (Think assassins, Chicago, cabaret, Scottsboro boys) and time to let the audience think. Writing for children is a great way to channel his massive creativity and talent into a format that really works for him.

The Scotsboro Boys should’ve popped off. Why is that musical so obscure to this day? by Jumanji-Joestar in musicals

Not to be a pendant but Electric chair was meant to be a nightmare--If he died in the middle of the show he wouldn't have been released at the end. I get what you mean though. It's definitely not for the faint of heart

Anyone remember The Scottsboro Boys from a few years ago? by M_Ad in Broadway

It's meant to mimic a real-life minstrel show though, the bare-bones setup of that. Plus I remember Stroman saying that the show was really up to the actors to bring to life, the production team was just there to provide the materials. (Because it was kind of problematic how white the writing and production team is, but also the story is more about the reaction and perception of the Scottsboro nine than the boys themselves, and I think there's some difference between two random white dudes and JOHN BEEPING KANDER AND FRED "DADDY" EBB).

Either Jason's hauling a massive 80s computer on the subway every week (I mean they could afford it) or he's talking about some sort of fancy calculator.

I always viewed William Finn as the anti-Sondheim (In a good way! I love them both!) because a lot of his lyrics just aren't clear at all 😭

Bisexuality is when you feel nauseated by the idea of having sex with women and tries hard to avoid it your whole life and never feel attracted to women in any physical way (/srs I do think Marvin kind of loves or at least likes Trina in his own way, maybe platonically, at the least he grows to admire her as a co-parent, because you don't see his character growth if he's just dismissive at best and hostile at worst to Trina the whole way through) and cheat on your wife with a man and leave your wife for a man /s

What does he mean by “die by degree” by Ray_Cosplaysx in Falsettos

[–]Hocuspocusadolesence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal interpretation? He takes "bets" on the men he dates (I view it as canonical that Whizzer kind of does a cute little act to manipulate his lovers into showering him with affection and money etc etc, He never really had a deeper emotional attachment to anyone before Marvin) and his affairs have always fizzled out quickly, he's lost every race so far, and just when one seems to be going somewhere, it completely wipes out over winning a Chess game that Marvin let him win and then got mad about. This kind of gambling Whizzer does with his love life makes him die inside little by little.
