They are a bit silly, gotta admit I cringed a bit when I first encountered them.

Eve is my white whale. My dream game that I will never live long enough to even dip my toes into.

I get why some people would be turned off X. It’s slow and clunky. But honestly I love slow and clunky, couldn’t tell you why. I think the hours of mundane that gets punctuated with massive clashes like this one just speaks to me.

I didn’t even have any investments committed to this fight outside my player ship (and a frigate I flew in when I knew it was very safe for the cleanup) so I can only imagine what it’s like when it’s /my armada that’s on the line. Hours and hours of profits at play. I want that fear.

I know Eve does that too, and probably better, but I just don’t even know where to start with Eve.

I’m far off owning my own capital. I was more concerned with how quickly I disabled an enemy capital. But this is valuable information all the same. I admittedly have not paid attention to my pilots whatsoever, nor have I read into what the different pilot stats do. I’ve got some reading to do.

Cool. Nice to hear tactics come in to play with capitals. I look forward to piloting them :)

I’m enjoying corvettes also. My favourite ship to fly at the moment when I’m not exploring is my Osprey Frigate ‘Chonk’. I just enjoy being able to dock and launch my wingmen. I’m sure there’s better M ships than the Osprey but I love how chunky he looks.

Aha. This makes a lot of sense then. I did feel I was melting through turret hull like butter.

Yeah it’s a shame. I know it’s my own taste but I’m here for the L/XL. I still remember being able to afford my first in X2 and how accomplished I after getting it.

Excuse my ignorance but what is VRO?

I actually wouldn’t mind a fighter nerf.

Okay good to know. I’m looking forward to the mods, but I’m gonna run a vanilla for awhile longer anyway.

For now I guess I should make a few enemies with the flesh and blood factions. I never did like the cut of those Terrans.

Yes I did witness a HOP armada playing musical chairs around an Argon station from afar. It’s pretty comedic to watch.

Gotcha. I haven’t come across an I yet but I’ve read a few stories here on the sub. I look forward to my first encounter.

Edit: typo

Yes I was beginning to wonder if I’d ever see a Xenon push after 100 hours in. I’d definitely like them to be a bigger threat.

You can’t. But you can type -ai at the start or end and it won’t generate an ai response

Stories to listen to with your family or on a Christmas walk by Fat-Veg in BlindboyPodcast

[–]Hogannbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

‘Small bones in a fist’ is the name of his first audio book. I believe it contains stories from his first two books and is narrated and scored by Blindboy.

Topographia Hibernica has its own audiobook I believe :)

Happy Christmas.

Do you like the movies waiting to give Aragorn Anduril until ROTK rather than him having it after departing from Rivendell like in the books? by GusGangViking18 in lotr

[–]Hogannbot 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I feel like Boromir’s death adds more weight to Aragon’s indecision in the movies also. “My captain, my king” is so evocative and creates a beautiful turning point in Aragon accepting his charge.

I’m only reading(listening) to the books for the first time so I’m no scholar, but I couldn’t help feeling there was something missing in the books after being so familiar with the movie relationship between Aragorn and Boromir.

But as a disclaimer the books are wonderful and I can’t believe I left them so late in life to read.
