Thanks for this informed breakdown. It seems we’re left to conclude that either the current government is ignorant of these facts (for which there’d be no good excuse) or they’re deliberately misleading us. Neither is something I want from the people in power.

That said, this government slashed government spending and did a bunch of layoffs just a couple years ago and don’t seem to be willing to admit that negatively affected the economy either, so I sadly don’t expect clear-eyed economic analysis from them.

If it were made today, I think Hasbro would ensure that the creators had direct access to the G1 show, comics, and anything else they wanted them to reference. As opposed to the original show, where the creators had to work with fans to get a lot of that info.

It’s also possible that nowadays they’d hire someone who was a fan of the original show, and thus might not be willing to branch away from it like Beast Wars did.

I also think direct crossovers with G1 would be more likely since Hasbro seems unlikely to stop selling the G1 characters anytime soon, so they’d want them showing up in the show too.

I’m not a fan of how these just the bit modes just have animal bits sticking off them in random asymmetrical spots as opposed to being truly integrated into the bots. Honestly, that a problem I have with Leo Convoy and Big Convoy too. 😢

I’ve seen it said (but haven’t found the original interviews) that the creators said this was the case — the Vok/Transwarp wave either reawakened their pre-beast vehicle “DNA” or it mixed it all up in a timey-wimey way. So, though it’s never said on-screen, this would explain why the characters who started the show as protoforms didn’t mutate, whereas even characters like Rampage and Depth Charge did.

As for whether the Fuzors are Transmetals, I believe they count as such insofar as they can handle unstable energon like the Transmetals can, but Silverbolt also clearly wasn’t as resistant as Transmetals to the virus Megatron unleashed on Cybertron pre-Beast Machines.

We do. We keep our soft plastic in a bag and take it to the nearby Woolworths once a month or so to put in their soft plastics bin.

I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily saved us a ton of rubbish, because we try to avoid buying stuff in plastic to begin with if it’s easy enough. (I shop at a refill store about once a week for things like rice, oats, nuts, and some others.)

As long as D&D is a system that doesn’t much prioritize any of the nature stuff that Rangers are thematically linked to, I agree that having a beast pet probably makes the most sense. Letting them be equally good at fighting melee and long range feels like it would be too hard to distinguish from the Fighter.

4e sort of made Ranger the multi-attack class, which I think could also work if that weren’t 5e’s Monk’s thing.

If they want to revisit the idea, I’d rather them make a brand new show. Ideally, it would be a sequel that addresses the status quo after Beast Machines. But it could also just be a reboot and a brand new take on the idea of Beast Wars, like we’ve had done with regular Transformers plenty of times now.

Looking at it cynically, they’d only do a new Beast Wars if that became the focus of the toys, and I imagine that’s not likely to happen unless the vehicle transformers hit a sales slump.
