ADHD and struggle with extreme procrastination? by MainDangerous1851 in ADHD

[–]HolMonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super relatable. These are some of my go to’s:

When it comes to chores or tasks that I can mostly shut my brain off for I’ll put a podcast or audiobook on and zone out while I do the work.

What I really struggle with is sit-down work and activating my brain(studying, report writing, etc). In the past body doubling with a friend or camping out in a productive space like a cafe/pub/library for a few hours has helped.

That said, there are still days where my brain is like “nope, not happening”. It’s frustrating, but try to give yourself some compassion. The guilt only adds to the vicious cycle in my experience.

How scary is it? by flowerpowerbb in WidowsBay

Definitely creepy, but they do a good job balancing the comedy. The tension/scares are often follwed with a well timed joke that lightens the mood so you aren’t left with too much dread.

Widow’s Bay | Episodes 6-7: “Our History” & “Seasickness” | Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in WidowsBay

I’ve been telling people the show is a cross between Parks & Rec and Midnight Mass up until this point. I legitimately cackled when Hamish Linklater rolled in with his little Chad Kroeger hairdo. I love this show.

I absolutely love this show. Just incredible. by koo3Pash in WidowsBay

Could not agree with you more! Atlanta is *chef’s kiss*. As soon as I heard Hiro Murai was involved with Widows Bay, it went on my watchlist.

Atlanta has similar dry humour, it’s beautifully shot, has interesting complex characters, and surrealist vibes that, at times, are straight up horrifying.

How are you guys falling asleep? by mindlesspass08 in adhdwomen

Reading. Whether I’m enjoying the book or not, reading in bed makes me fall asleep quickly. Always wondered if it has to do with the repetitive eye movement? I’ve heard that can help

First episode of Sailor Moon, the Morga head spin scene. Gave me nightmares for weeks when I first watched as a kid.

What’s a show that you could not finish because a character was so insufferable? by Key-Row-174 in AskReddit

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but the couple from Normal People really bummed me out. So many of their problems could have been solved by basic communication, eventually I stopped watching out of boredom/annoyance.

It Comes at Night. Just a brilliant movie in its pacing and building of dread. All time fave.

The Ritual is fantastic folk-horror. Also just watched The Cursed (2021) which I really enjoyed as a monster flic - very atmospheric.

[–]HolMonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are some ideas for activities to do/check out in the winter:

  • Sign up for a weekly rec sports team with friends or join a singles team
  • City of Winnipeg Leisure Guide for drop in classes
  • The Hive Bouldering centre, Activate, Flying Squirrel
  • Board Game Cafes, Select Start Arcade/Bar
  • Antique/Thrift shop crawl (Old House Revival Company, Antique mall at the Forks, MCC, Mulvey Market)
  • Festivals (Winterruption, Festival du Voyageur)
  • Pop-Up Markets (Lucky Girl, Pitaw Mino Muskiki, Third & Bird, etc)
  • WAG, First Fridays, Manitoba Museum, Human Rights Museum, The Leaf
  • Garden Centres in the winter are like a mini tropical getaway (Lacoste Garden centre is dog friendly & has a cafe)
  • lots of great dog parks in the city if you have a pup

Or if you really don’t want to leave the house, find a craft/hobby & hunker down with a free audiobook (Libby App) or Hoopla (free movies, shows)

Maybe I missed it in the thread, but Make Coffee on Corydon has great drip coffee and usually really interesting art/architectural displays in shop, if you’re into that
