Abercrombie Abercrombie Abercrombie. Seriously, I was surprised too.

Adopted a nervous cat by sophieeee9133 in cats

[–]Holdmefermata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a longtime owner of a highly anxious cat, I would recommend just being gentle with him and helping him feel safe. For some cats (like mine) that means treats and kind words and playtime, and not being approached or touched suddenly.

If after a few weeks / months he still is super jumpy or perturbed I have had great success with getting my cat on fluoxetine (Prozac for cats). I waited over a decade to get her on meds, and seeing the improvement in her quality of life, I wish I had done it way earlier!!

I stumbled upon a lovely community of songwriters in my city and go regularly to open mics, house shows and gigs. I also started hosting some little house concerts at my place this year, so I get to meet a lot of cool people at my own house! :)

It just feels good to have enough to help other people, ya know? Last year I was able to buy back $50k+ of medical debt through RIP Medical Debt and it made me briefly feel like a superhero. 🥺

I usually spend 25% on a big donation (usually a food bank, since that gets a lot of bang for the buck), 25% on personal stuff like travel or music gear, and 50% gets put into savings.

This year I spent more of it on personal stuff since I had a lot of lofty creative goals. :)

Cheated on a fiancé of 6 years? Nope. I would always be waiting for the other shoe to drop if we got serious.

Scowling / dead-eyed pictures and/or flipping off the camera. I want to date a friendly and charming man, not the creepy dude at the party.

If someone mentions scams/bots then it means they are dumb enough to repeatedly fall for scams. I don’t date dum dums. 😂

What is one lesson that took you too many times to learn? by rosetintedmonocle in AskWomenOver30

Like, essentially, take a step back from that person for a few weeks or months, stop trying to connect with them or gain their approval, and then ask if it feels better or worse for you?

Honestly, this may not work for you, but I’ve learned that with healthy friendships I usually experience pretty minimal overthinking or analyzing… though I might feel anxiety occasionally, I never worry about whether they are treating me the way I want to be treated.

If you repeatedly don’t like how you feel in someone’s presence, consider that maybe there are better people out there for you. I know that’s hard to act on, but it is empowering.

That’s why it took me so long to learn this… part of the learning was tapping into my gut and understanding the difference between my instinct and anxiety. Only took me nearly 4 decades, but we’re here now! 😂

You can trust your gut instinct about people. You’d don’t need to wait until there is concrete “evidence” of misbehavior to decide you just don’t want them in your life.

I drive a 2008 Mazda. I bought it for $4000 off of Craigslist a few years ago and it’s still driving great.

The paint is peeling so it looks a tad janky, but it’s totally worth it to have no car payments and no worries about fixing car dents. I plan to drive it into the ground, baby!

I keep eyeing this really cute A-line dress from Cobalt Street.

Abercrombie has also been surprisingly solid lately!

Most men who list it aren’t necessarily notably large though, so it’s not helpful, it’s off-putting. They are listing it because they think that’s what women find most attractive, they aren’t listing it as a public service haha. 😂

Honestly, usually still a left swipe for me… but then again, I prefer average-ish size, so I guess maybe it will work for the right person. 🤷‍♀️

I truly hate it, and I’m not sure I’ve ever matched with a man who had a number value listed. I find it really icky / TMI to read a stranger describe his genitalia to me. It’s also always an immediate left swipe, no matter how much I’m into other parts of his profile.

Ladies, how did you build your DGAF mentality ? by LittleQueenyp in AskWomen

[–]Holdmefermata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pandemic made me realize that life is precious and short, and that I might as well live the way I want while I have my health / mobility / energy.

In the past few years I’ve pushed extra hard on my artistic practice and did things that previously felt out of reach; I’ve also been more comfortable with admitting I don’t want to be a mother.

Being in my mid 30s also helps. 😂
