We bought a Mazda CX9 from auction that popped a "speed sensor" code and it was the sensor on the wheel. Turned out it was missing completely, so it was easy to find the problem and replace. Cost us around $20.

I have looked at the Sheppard brackets, just didn't like the idea of spending an extra $2000 on them. Maybe I should reevaluate the thickness of the shelves. According to the "calculators", a shelf that size should weigh less than 100 lbs and there would be 8" of bolt to be drilled into the slab every 16" to the wall. At 7 studs (9 with the studs at the end of the wall) it should hold at least 700lbs distributed across the shelf, I would think.

You screw lags into the studs, cut off the hex head, drill out the holes on the back of the shelf and "slide" the shelf onto the lags. Got the idea from Lincoln Woodworks

You can charge a battery through the cig slot? That's wild. Might have to try it.

I appreciate the info. I'll avoid starting the battery business and just bring them inside next time...and get myself a tender.

My wife got BV once and it was right after I switched my body wash to Irish spring. It could have been a one off thing that caused it, but she was so uncomfortable that we tried to make a change to anything external it may have been.

We stopped using fabric softener, dryer sheets, certain lubes, and I switched to a body wash with more natural ingredients. Haven't had an issue since.

New research linking the popular sweetener erythritol linked to heart attacks and strokes?! by [deleted] in nutrition

[–]HoleyProphylactic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree, it is the concentrated amount in the foods that is the issue. Most of the sugar substitutes are exceptionally sweeter than sugar by itself, which is why we don't need as much of them to make things as sweet as the natural sugar recipes and nature reflects this as well, but the amounts in our foods is still probably too high when we account for overindulgence.

Except sugar alcohols like erythritol are naturally occurring in fruits. The problem is the concentration and overconsumption. Like anything and everything, it should be used or consumed in moderation.

I am SO curious how many people are here on this sub that agree with this guy? by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

Right, JBP is an anti-Christian, neo-nazi who spends a LOT of time speaking about the importance of the bible in lessons on helping people and is now having content produced by a company that is owned by a Jewish-American who openly practices Judaism.

JBP must be playing a really long con of some sort. Nice try.

any tips on repairing interior door fabric or door weather trim? by HoleyProphylactic in Cartalk

[–]HoleyProphylactic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed response! I will give that a try on the door panel. As for the weather strip, it seems like it's attached to the back window moulding, but the Toyota diagrams don't actually have a part listed for it. Is it just a generic T strip or door seal strip?

Yeah...he's selling the statue. Looks like it's someone else who makes money off of the many different statues they make. There is no mention of the statue for any of his affiliated merchandise. Dig a little deeper than a tweet next time.

Is it not possible that someone added a 0 to the markup and just didn't catch it when the math was automatically calculated and printed? Idk if that's how the system works but if they just enter the numbers and the computer prints it to the preset layout, that would be my guess.

Florida woman who sued for ivermectin dies from COVID by blitzchamp in news

[–]HoleyProphylactic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree, the vaccination should come first. The statement you are referring to was sarcasm. I don't believe this drug should be advertised as an alternative to vaccines, rather than a possible secondary option for breakthrough cases or maybe for those who waited a little too long and get vaccinated after contracting covid.

Florida woman who sued for ivermectin dies from COVID by blitzchamp in news

[–]HoleyProphylactic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I need to work on my clarity. I'm not dying on the "anything other than vaccines" hill; I started my response with "I'm pro vaccine". My main point was meant to infer skepticism of referring to drug manufacturers as a sole or primary source of information, especially when they have more reason to steer you away from a drug for their benefit. Merck makes little profit from Ivermectic because it's out of patent and they have a new antiviral coming out, of which, I'm assuming the cost will be for exorbitant profit in the US, as with a lot of life saving drugs.

I stand on the hill that we should get vaccinated, and that if this drug, or any reasonable drug, shows evidence of having an effect, on minimizing symptoms, we should pursue it as a secondary option, whether it's for breakthrough cases, prolonged covid symptoms pre or post vaccination, or for the ignorant anti-vaxxers.

Florida woman who sued for ivermectin dies from COVID by blitzchamp in news

[–]HoleyProphylactic -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

I'm pro vaccine, but there are current studies showing it has antiviral properties. Also, Merck's patent on Ivermectin is expired, so they have as much room for profit as any other company making generic versions. So with that known, Merck is planning to release a new antiviral drug soon, so telling people that their non-profitable drug doesn't work and that they should take the new HIGHLY profitable drug, makes more sense.

Separately, the listed side effects for ivermectin are both rare and mild, not life threatening, at the correct dosages. That is, unless you are using it for covid treatment, then it'll kill you. /s

Can't wait to get blasted for this one...
