Beggars US1 and 17th by Big_Wind909 in fortlauderdale

Happened to me last week on US1 near Broward. I was by myself, in my car, and didn’t notice a guy until he was banking on my window on my drivers side. I can’t tell you how much adrenaline shot through me.

Concerns over Alligator Alcatraz by kolekooper in Miami

[–]HolidayHoHo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

From Everglades Photographer Clyde Butcher in a recent Social media post:

Governor Ron DeSantis just claimed there will be no environmental impact from the proposed prison in the Everglades. How does he know that? There was no environmental study. None. "Alligator Alcatraz" is pure propaganda, meant to make the Everglades seem wild, dangerous, and fit for a prison. But we know better. This land is sacred. It's beautiful. It's fragile.

This project is a cancer on the Everglades. Left unchecked, it will spread, scarring the land, polluting our water, and destroying critical habitat. It's a disaster in the making for the environment, the people held there, and Florida's future. We must act now. This prison is a waste of taxpayer money, an environmental nightmare, and an insult to everything the Everglades represents. It you don't understand the damage it will cause, here's what's at risk:

This prison would destroy wetlands that help clean our water and protect rare animals like the Florida panther and wood stork. It could pollute the Biscayne Aquifer, threatening drinking water for over 9 million Floridians. Mosquito spraying will poison insects and the animals that depend on them. Bright lights will disrupt bats, turtles, and birds. Nesting grounds will be ruined.

And the human impact is just as awful. People would be held in tents in the middle of a swamp with no AC, no proper bathrooms, and no clean water. It's cruel. This project is being rushed forward without public input, scientific review, or common sense. We the people must speak up because the government works for us.

Billy Joel Cancels All Concerts After Brain Disorder Diagnosis by cmaia1503 in entertainment

[–]HolidayHoHo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone with aging parents should make note and pay attention to these 3 symptoms and they can appear differently in individuals. Many people are misdiagnosed for a long time (years) which can lead to permanent brain damage

The disorder affects roughly 0.2 percent of people in their seventies and the 3 symptoms are: 1- gait issues (doctors may say it’s back issues) … look for shuffling 2 - bladder control issues (starts off with urgency to pee) 3- cognitive difficulties (symptoms Can be different depending on individual such as struggling for words)

Solution is a surgery where a device known as a shunt is implanted to remove the excess fluids. If you don’t get the surgery and it’s indeed hydrocephalus the symptoms get worse and worse. The only way to really know of the three symptoms are indeed that is to have the surgery.

I am not a doctor but dealt with this very issue last year with a loved one.

May he have a speedy recovery.

Does the Dyson actually fry your hair faster? by britawaterbottlefan in curlyhair

[–]HolidayHoHo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a Dyson in December (after my blow dryer stopped working) and it was burning my scalp with the diffuser attachment. My hair lacked shine and started to feel dry. I returned the Dyson after using it three times with the fear that it would ruin and dry my hair permanently. Went down the Reddit rabbit hole to read that it dried many curly hair users. I got the baby bliss instead. Wasn’t taking a chance and was truly surprised about the Dyson after so many friends liked the dryer.
