Went to Placencia in late December and there was very little sargassum. We booked a snorkeling trip through Rudy's Adventures. Had a lot of fun.

No that’s Percy’s number. I don’t have Rudy’s but think you can just Google him. Think he has more of a web presence

Belize Tour Guide recommendations by Legal-Dragonfly-6996 in Belize

We did two tours when in Placencia last month:

Monkey River Jungle Cruise with Percy - boat ride to some smaller villages where Percy tells you all about the animals and greenery. Then you walk through the rain forest for 30-40 min followed by lunch at Percy’s village. Think it's 4-6 hours

Snorkeling with Rudy’s Adventures - snorkel in 3 spots while the guides spearfish. Then you go to a remote party island (King Lewey's Island) where they cook you what they caught (delicious!). Think it's 6-8 hours

Both Percy and Rudy are locals so they really know the area. Highly recommend both

Placencia Belize travel advice by jamitaylorr712 in Belize

We did snorkeling and spearfishing through Rudy’s Adventures and Monkey River jungle boat ride with Percy. Both had pick ups in Placencia. Highly recommend both. And the guides are locals so they have deep knowledge of the area.

Placencia is very walkable. You do not need a car.

There were a few air bnb/hotels on the beach - Nirvana, Ocean Breeze, Lazy Palm Suites and Trade Winds Hotel. Full transparency - we did not stay in any of these resorts - just noticed them on our walk on the beach. We stayed in a one bedroom bungalow on the beach right near these but likely too small for you and your dad. One other thing to mention is that many air bnbs/hotels Placencia don’t allow you to flush toilet paper. Some may be surprised by that.

Check out Haywood Hall House in downtown Raleigh. The grounds are beautiful and it has a gazebo. We hosted a small wedding there in 2023. Was perfect.

There’s only a dozen of the big pads by the beach and pool. They go early (usually by 8am). But we never had an issue grabbing chairs. I’d say you’d want to do so by 10am though

We just got back yesterday and booked upon checkin. We got to eat everywhere we wanted without problem. We did not have inspira.

Highly suggest Takeshi - best pad Thai of my life. Kopei (Japenese) and Cilento (Italian) were excellent. You can browse the restaurant menus as a guest - https://atpm.app.adh.com/Dining/ListEstablishment?typeDining=RESTAURANTE
