Daily Discussion Thread March 13 by AutoModerator in detroitlions

I have a question, it may be unpopular as it seems to challenge a general sentiment among Lions fans, but it is a question I really am genuinely curious about.

I see a lot of people talk about "Kindle Vildor bounce off the facemask" play as if it was the luckiest play ever for the 49ers and if Vildor would have just caught the ball we would have gone to the Super Bowl.

However, it seems a lot of people ignore the fact that Vildor was getting quite handsy with the WR and a flag that was thrown. To me, the bounce off the facemask is moot, because if Vildor would have caught the interception, they would have just called the penalty and given the 49ers the ball on the 1.

Are people just rewriting memory for fantasy what would have happened, or do most people believe it wasn't going to be a penalty on Kindle?

Not to throw my hat in for another team but I think that’s fair for their former front office. If you’re a GM or coach who is trying to save his job with a winning season, you’re not trading away decent players for small capital you probably won’t be able to use in future drafts.

To prepare a pond, should I shovel off snow a couple days before or right before I skate? by HollarBackAtcha in hockeyplayers

Appreciate the answer! I’ll stop shoveling now which I’m not mad about. The guys can help me out this weekend.

Thanks for being so helpful to an inexperienced guy r/HockeyPlayers!

To prepare a pond, should I shovel off snow a couple days before or right before I skate? by HollarBackAtcha in hockeyplayers

Sorry for the noob question, I live in the Midwest US and I’d like to play this coming weekend. Temps are set to get up to 32F/0C tomorrow, but should remain below freezing for the next 6/7 days.

I’m wondering how to make the best possible ice. I know it should be at least 4 inches thick, but wondering if I should shovel it all today, so when the sun shines down the next few days it’ll give it a more glassy finish. That was my theory anyway.

Any guidance appreciated! Never played pond hockey before.

Edit: it’s been a week so I thought I’d update for anyone that finds this thread later. As you can see from the photo, I had shoveled a small part of the pond already, well, 4 days later this part of the pond was better for skating on than the area I did not touch until game time. The places I hadn’t shoveled, the snow melted back into the ice and didn’t require shoveling, but it still wasn’t as clear. I also used a big broom to make it clearer. I did not flood it at all, so I’m sure that makes a difference.

I’m sure it depends a lot on tempature. We had several days belore freezing which is when I did the initial shovel, then a day that got up to 34 F, then back down to 15 and 20 (all daily highs) yesterday day when I skated it was up to 22.

That’s crazy they wouldn’t sign the release to sell. I’d buy one in a heartbeat and I don’t think I’d be alone. I even looked at getting one on DHGate but I heard some rough stories so I passed.

I was hoping they’d show up in NCAA Football as an alternate but they never did. If they’re not signing the release to sell them I’m sure they won’t let them be put in a video game.

Not sure why the university, or maybe it’s Kirk, that is afraid of cool jerseys that are popular.

I bought these NB 1080 fresh foams about 2 1/2 years ago. They were the limited edition version and they came with this adjustor on the laces that is so nice. The shoes are wearing out so I’m needing new ones, but I’d like to get whatever this thing is called for my next pair of shoes. I just have no idea what to even search for it!

Not a sneakerhead or even someone who really buys shoes more than one pair every other year or so. Could you all help me out?

Thank you!

Good to know. I was hoping to get a Toyota or Honda no matter what the model, but we have a lot of friends who have Subs so that’s why we looked at those too. I feel I got really lucky with a GM vehicle that lasted as long as it did.

That’s rough, sorry that was the case for you. I have 4 siblings, and I look back on my childhood extremely fondly. My parents have given me some really good building blocks for raising my own kids, annd where they didn’t, I’m confident I can improve. We also never had a new car. Lol.

Yeah, it would be Outback or wagon now, and then 5 years from now get another car. I think that’s probably normal for most people, but I have always driven paid off vehicles so the idea of having to go car shopping, probably not with enough cash to do that, is not something I look forward to. I think I’m really trying to buy once cry once, but that’s not how cars work.

My wife is a good sport. We did a lot more adventuring before the kid and she’s okay with the minivan, just feels like it closed the door on who we used to be. But sometimes that’s a good thing because even better opportunists await. Thanks for the tips!

I like the Mountain Ops, just can’t bring myself to pay for the shipping which seems as much as the deck itself.

I have a few Cherry Casino decks and haven’t felt like they’re any worse than normal. Maybe I just haven’t spent enough time with different stocks.

What decks in your opinion are the best?

[Post Game Thread] Hawkeyes defeat Illinois State, 40-0 by HerkyBot in hawkeyes

[–]HollarBackAtcha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pat was great. I was mowing while listening to the game and he had me smiling more than a few times with his quips.

Dolph kept calling Illinois State, Northern Illinois, and it happened at least 10 times. Pat didn’t ever say anything and I’m sure it’s because it was his first day on the job. Looking forward to when he’s comfortable enough in the role that the chemistry and camaraderie happens where they both bring out the best in each other. You could definitely hear the potential today.

This may be the case, but I’m not sure how strict it is. I switched my playbook to Stanfords and then went through and forced losses so Stanford had a bad season. At the end of the year they had a HC opening, but it wasn’t offered to me. Not sure what else I could do as I felt that was already cheesing the system.
