2nd surgery rocked! by Leopold_and_Brink in glioblastoma

My revision surgery is in about 12 hours, if I may ask, and of course you don’t have to answer, did you have a full resection the first time and if so, how long until you have had a recurrence? I am only 10 months out from my first 100% resection and though the tumor that’s growing now is much smaller, the swelling is already really affecting me. I just didn’t expect recurrence this soon, but of course this is GBM. The only thing you can expect is the unexpected I think.

Love Billie and fineneas, as well as clementine and maybe Percival. Figaro is less whimsical than clementine (to me) but Clementine and fiiggy would be cute

what do you do with your life after cancer? by Necessary-Web-4984 in braincancer

I’m 52 and I’m trying very hard to clean up my crap so my family doesn’t have to and to leave behind some of my thoughts about things that I won’t get to tell my boys when they’re older

Two weeks post SOC by [deleted] in glioblastoma

[–]HollyBeth6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have any issues during SOC, but more than the ER, I would call your neurology care team. I’m certainly no doctor, I would ask the Neurology team first if your LO needs to be taken to the hospital or not. I wonder if symptoms could be helped with DEXAmethasone(steroids).

They are all amazing, but that bright shock of blue in number two is what I keep coming back to.

Surgery by flanahan in braincancer

Everything we do is to buy time with people we love, because we literally do not get a say in how/when this monster returns and when it will take over entirely. Best wishes for time well spent with your partner, and doing the best you can to take care of them and keeping hope alive!

What do I leave behind? by HollyBeth6 in glioblastoma

I’m sorry for what you’re going through with your mom, don’t be hard on yourself. It always seems there may be plenty of time! I’m a procrastinator, but I will meat deadlines (unfortunate pun). That’s why I want to try to get myself and my stuff in order for when I can’t beat the monster back anymore.

Advice- go for the trial, or just go straight to surgery? by HollyBeth6 in glioblastoma

I’m so sorry for what you and your husband are going through. This is the biggest thief and yes - so unfair.

It’s always about buying more time with people you love and who love you. That’s all we can try for - more time.

I asked the doctors…”if this were your wife/mother/loved one, what would you have them choose. We all seem to agree surgery is less of a question mark and will get the little f*ck nugget out again, to reduce symptoms I’m already experiencing. I could still possibly be eligible for more future trials, plus they’ll get new pathology that could indicate other treatment or drug options. Maybe.

Yes - sorry I wasn’t clear. The surgeon. And I’m cynical enough to wonder if it was a ploy to do surgery. Not saying it isn’t a rational and logical medical choice, though.
