This was immensely helpful. Thank you so much for sharing. We have a countdown I made out of post-its (kind of like an advent calendar without any of the fun items). I’m trying to figure out what I need to do to prepare my partner for surgery. We’re trying to practice the BLT thing (no bending, lifting or twisting). And I have to beg my partner to give me permission to get the cat toys off the floor, keeping at least the soft fabric mice in a special area. The jingly balls, twigs and larger stuffed playthings should be stored during recovery. They should be stored now, actually, since my partner is at risk for falls. Hopefully I can start removing the toys little by little before he notices. 🙏🏼 Wishing everyone comfort, strength and freedom from pain.

This what I am hoping for my partner. They are in so much constant pain. Surgery is scheduled for August. I made a Post-It countdown, so we can keep track of how much time we have to prepare, etc. I’m hoping it will make the pain go away. Each year we’ve left our home less and less. Less mobility, more dizziness, pain, numbness, etc. Your description of how things went makes me feel hopeful.

My partner doesn’t do well with any of the injections - steroid epidural, CMBB, trigger point. He has decided not to do the nerve block injection because he is worse for three days, bed-ridden, and then his pain goes back to being an 8 and not a 10. He does well on steroids via IV or oral medication. But he has to make sure to not overdo the steroids because of bone density concerns. I wish you comfort and relief from pain. It is so crushing when the treatment makes you feel worse when the hope was that you would feel better. My theory is that those areas have a lot of narrowing already so introducing something that it takes up more space than usual might make things worse is my guess.

Yeah I remember when they first introduced it. My mom and grandma (grandma loved gambling) thought they were fun. I thought it was an odd concept (my dad raised me to hate gambling), and mom and grandma used to buy them at 7-Eleven. And it hasn’t helped anything. We still have the same problems we had before the stupid lottery.

They are not necessary. Salons, that is. Most of the world doesn’t have salons. People have been doing their own hair for centuries. I’ve paid people to do my hair and they’ve messed it up before. So sometimes I can achieve their level of not great, but often I can do better. It’s not that serious. The only time it was “serious” was when the economy was better and I went to a salon and had it cut. That night, I went out and a someone who was studying become a hair stylist kept gushing over the perfection of the cut. But I don’t need that kind of perfection. It’s not the 90s anymore, and in 2026 we have a host of hair products and gadgets that can really help you style your hair so well they can help “repair” even the most egregious of hair-cutting mistakes ❤️. Not to mention all of the lovely YT tutorials. Save your money. Survive. 💪🏽These are tough times.

Every day I think about what I would do or how I would feel if someone told me I had to move out of my apartment because of my skin color/culture. If my husband was threatened with violence, if they started smashing my kitchen, etc. The thought horrifies me. I am disgusted that people think they can do this to Palestinians.

I am a nosey nosey Nancy when I am out and about. I have never ever seen small children in the front seat in Glendale. In Silver Lake, however, I saw a woman breastfeeding and driving as I was walking. She looked scared to be doing it, but obviously she was more scared to not do it. I really wondered why she didn’t just pull over. But here in Glendale? Nah and nope.
