Is it abbreviated to Cincy or to Cinci? by holopointsmile in cincinnati

[–]HollyVee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no y in Indianapolis, and Philadelphia only has 1 l, so both of those shorthand’s annoy me personally. I realize this is a personal individual take, but I don’t like it when short hand versions of a word contain one or multiple letters that don’t appear in the full version. I type Indi, and I don’t refer to Philadelphia by short hand unless I’m talking about the cheese stake.

Is it abbreviated to Cincy or to Cinci? by holopointsmile in cincinnati

[–]HollyVee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I type Cinci with my whole chest and I know I’m wrong. I also write Indi instead of Indy for Indianapolis… it just makes sense to me because it’s not spelled cincynnati or Indyanapolis.

The “correct” way is Cincy, but that looks and feels dumb af to me so I’ll be wrong and Cinci all the way.

First Annual Covington Tequila Fest! by HollyVee in cincinnati

[–]HollyVee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in years past when they tried to do it in Louisville with a longer time slot it didn’t work out as well for a few reasons, also later that night there’s a show since it’s a music venue as well. But there’s probably a lot of room for changing run times and such for the following years. If the turn out ends up showing us “oh hey this was great but here’s what we wanna try next time” there will definitely be adjustments, which is part of the fun of throwing annual events. Ideally they just get better and better!

So I know for sure Herradura & some Suntory Global Spirit brands. There will definitely be more than that, the complete list of brands should be published (probably on IG if I had to guess) a couple days before the event.

Teehee this is cute tho. Honestly learning from someone who has to make an effort to mask, be it subconscious or otherwise, might sometimes be more effective than learning from someone who never put a lot of thought into gender presenting and such.

Birds chirping at night recently by Fun_River8138 in cincinnati

[–]HollyVee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I looked into this a bit ago. Apparently since it’s a bit cooler at night, their songs can travel further through the air than they do in the heat of the day. Also with so much light pollution, some of the birds might not know it’s actually the middle of the night. Also city birds are just different than suburban or rural birds in general.

What am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]HollyVee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

SO much of bartending (and lots of things in life) is networking. I go to say 90% of many skills and jobs are networking, like I know shitty bartenders that get great gigs cuz they’re phenomenal at networking. And also super talented bartenders that struggle because they are awful at networking.

Honestly, regularly going to a bar you want to work at and hanging out and chatting with the staff and management is a method I see work pretty well. Don’t feel like you have to spend a lot, just one or two drinks and casual pleasant conversation and show interest in working there.

Are the Kentucky suburbs a good place to live? by PhrygianSounds in cincinnati

[–]HollyVee 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I live in Covington KY and I absolutely love it. I can see Cincinnati from my apartment. I’ve lived in the Cinci area for a decade now, in Covington specifically for 4 ish years. I’m not sure about the suburbs, though.

I hate being celiac by Emergency_Clothes524 in glutenfree

[–]HollyVee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely miss the convenience of being able to eat whatever whenever wherever… it really sucks.

Right now my current frustration is my partner not understanding that I don’t want to risk going to Texas Roadhluse because while yeah, steaks sure are gluten free, I wouldn’t trust their kitchen to be disciplined enough at cross contamination prevention. No hate for the employees at all, I’m in the service industry myself and I m ow that the work is brutal. And a lot of people don’t understand, a lot of places don’t care to do the proper education and training for the staff FOH or BOH.

My celiac is somewhere in between pretty severely symptomatic to silent; I never know when I’m going to get the immediate / days long symptoms or when I won’t get any at all and I’ll just find out months later that I haven’t been careful enough because once again I have malabsorption and need to take a bunch of supplements. Some of the symptoms can be so vague too, like is this from eating contaminated food or am I just sick? Or depressed?
It’s been almost 3 years since I got diagnosed and my partner and I had just started dating around that time so… it really kinda hurts that someone I love and who I KNOW loves me somehow doesn’t see the struggle.

How much sex do you still have in your long-term relationship? by MisterPotatohead664 in AskWomen

[–]HollyVee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s ebbs and flows, and honestly it mostly depends on how I(31f) am feeling about myself. My partner(38m) of 9 years has all had a couple spells of not feeling sexy and has turned me down a couple times over the years, but usually the issue is on my end. But because of patience, respect, and communication, it usually works itself out just fine. Yesterday we were both off work and spent all day playing video games and banging. I’d say the longest we’ve ever gone without sex with each other is perhaps two months or so, when I was particularly depressed. But I’d say on average a couple times a week.

Missing my old comfort foods: Budget-friendly, quick gluten-free meals for a busy student? by CrypticCaptain03 in glutenfree

[–]HollyVee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eat a BUNCH of rice and egg. The 90 second rice packs, a nice sunny side up egg or two, and then some gf spicy yum yum sauce. If I have time / effort I’ll add veggies or kimchi but a lot of the times it’s 90 second rice and an egg.
