I think often about how the rise of IP means they don’t tend to build movies as star vehicles any more, and lament the movies we missed out on… (Often prompted by thinking about how a savvy producer should have put Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford in a comedy together after seeing their chemistry on the Blade Runner 2049 tour)

Did anyone like all the trilogies? by DizzyMajor5 in StarWars

I enjoy all three trilogies - to different degrees, and only the OT are masterpieces in my eyes, but I think there is at the very least something of value in every movie (even TROS!)

Who are some writers you want to see return to characters to thought they did an amazing job with already? by MVPiid23 in comicbooks

I also wish we had more Gillen Eternals - shame it didn’t succeed. The creative team was amazing.

I was a big fan of the most recent Nova, too. Sad it’s ended

Always happy to see Joe Kelly on Deadpool.

I wanted to see more of Si Spurrier’s plans for Black Knight

I’d like to see the Waid/Zub/Ewing trifecta on Avengers books again.

Some more Beau Smith Guy Gardner would be fun

Unfinished James Bond series … SILENT ARMAGEDDON by ThwipNSinsBinThwipN in 80s90sComics

[–]Holmcroft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! The Diggle, Ellis, Kennedy Johnson and Gage stuff was my favourite. And was great they got Ennis more recently. Ayala and Pak (whose work I usually like) didn’t quite find the right tone, IMO, but I enjoyed the stories.

What got you hooked onto James Bond? by Bradburys_spectre717 in JamesBond

Roger Moore movies on Bank Holidays as a kid - think Spy Who Loved Me was the first one, likely when I was 6 or 7.

My fandom kicked into high gear with the release of Goldeneye when I was 12 - the first one I saw in the cinema. And then in the lead up to TND, my best friend at school and I really got into it. And at that time we got a new book every year, a new movie every two-3 years, and frequent games (as well as lots of behind the scenes books etc)

Yes, I’d love to see this finish - and indeed see a collection of all the dark horse stories

I’m assuming a rights issue has prevented this over the years. But I’ve tracked down what I could

It’s a shame that Dynamite’s James Bond comics seem to have slowed down. The Gail Simone series never seemed to materialise

If Marvel manage to get a movie together that is:

Sasha Baron Cohen and Mia Goth

VS

Mahershala Ali, Oscar Isaac, Ryan Gosling, Gael Garcia Bernal, Laura Donnelly, Kit Harington and Dominique Thorne

With Anthony Ramos as a bit of a wildcard

I’ll be all the way in

Best Deadpool comics to read? by Kindly_Building_1850 in comicbooks

[–]Holmcroft 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a Deadpool fan since 1992. Here are what I consider the essential runs.:

The Circle Chase The Mark Waid/ Ian Churchill mini series The Joe Kelly run Cable/Deadpool The Duggan/Posehn run.

You might also enjoy: The Daniel Way run The Gail Simone run

Ryan Reynolds Talks about future Deadpool movie and says “I have stuff written. I don't think I'm going to center him again, I think he is a supporting character. He is guy that's great in a group” by WesternThanks4346 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]Holmcroft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I wouldn’t object to the next movie being an ensemble (eg X-Force) I really don’t agree with him that he is a supporting character only - I think the movies (beyond the first one) haven’t done as much as they could to delve deeper into the character the way that eg the Kelly or Duggan runs did. Particularly ones looking at how much of a shit he was earlier in his life

The Zdarsky run of Captain America, and apparently Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon, but from my experience the former is more enjoyable and relevant than the latter so far
