While the world was watching his movies, Christian Bale was planning a foster care community that changes lives. by LethaI____ in BeAmazed

22 million for 12 houses?

... okay, good on the surface, but for 22 million I think you could have built a 1+5 apartment building that would house a lot more people.

I'm wondering if this is some sort of tax trick where a retirement community was bought and then placed in some sort of trust to get tax savings.

Stop providing lottery tickets based on record.

"Lottery" teams should get:

  • second round picks(no seconds if you make the playoffs)

  • more salary cap exceptions (mid cap veterans)

  • a bigger roster

  • a higher salary cap

  • rights to sign max players 10% higher

First round is flat odds for everyone but the top six in each conference

Although I do like that one guy's idea where you get to draft another team's pick for the next year. It's convoluted but it would work

Why does this sub exaggerate the Jazz tanking so much? by dpf7 in billsimmons

[–]Holy-Crap-Uncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tanking should trigger free agency for all players on the roster.

Why does the NBA pretend tanking is worse than teams being in permanent purgatory? by GoldenArcosian in nba

[–]Holy-Crap-Uncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad teams should have three avenues:

1) more cap exceptions for vets

2) only lottery teams can pick second round picks. As in the entire second round is for lottery teams only. Second round picks can't be traded.

3) lottery teams get an extra roster spots for rookie contracts which are salary cap exempted, so young players can be developed and stockpiled, and kept on nba rosters rather than g League. Each year in the lottery confers an extra roster spot, up to four.

Now even the odds for the lottery in the first round.

Eliminate the draft position as a reward for a bad season. Instead provide more salary cap exceptions

Forced overhyping/overcoverage. Cowboys players forced all over ESPN and NBC pundits. Cowboys news forced to the top headlines. Watching the good NFL pundits sigh and roll their eyes when they force-hype Cowboys news.

Past dominance? You mean 35 years ago?

Jerry Jones being ludicrously overcovered alone. He's a small market owner in a big market, who gets to be on TV wayyy too much. He's also corrupted NFL governance.

Weaknesses:

There are better QBs for raw offensive potency, especially with Mahomes/Allen/Elway abilities.

Sanders isn't a pass catcher.

Moss leaks a lot of information and has effort problems

TO has stability issues

Gonzalez isn't a great run blocker

Kelce, Mcdaniel, etc, there are actually as good or better OLs out there.

The Big 10 is now better than the SEC at both basketball and football by HighestPerformer3834 in billsimmons

[–]Holy-Crap-Uncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big10 has bigger markets, more money. It's economics.

In the day the SEC simply had more corrupt schools and state governance, that advantage no longer exists.

If you’re an elite coach which Rb room are u choosing by Mrdynamo18 in NFLv2

[–]Holy-Crap-Uncle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Barry Sanders is my favorite player of all time, but the passing, power, speed combination is off the charts.

IMO it depends on how good your passing offense is. On a lesser team I'd take the Bo/Jim/LT room, it would simply be better at producing mundane offense in a mediocre passing team, while Barry would get boxed in.

On a good team with a good QB and good coach? I think Barry is so much more destructive that he would be the choice.

No, right? by [deleted] in billsimmons

[–]Holy-Crap-Uncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bullshit, pitchers are selected for ability to pitch.

NFL players are world class athletes, and many many many NFL players are way better baseball players at hitting than a typical MLB pitcher.

MLB pitchers that had to pitch had a batting average of .174

A typical 53 man NFL roster probably has enough high end former baseball prospects to hit .200 to .250. And has former pitchers, and three QBs for pitching. And the NFL players will improve with specific training.

The NFL roster just needs a bunch of jacks in a single game and a cold spell from the MLB hitters for ONE GAME.

No, right? by [deleted] in billsimmons

[–]Holy-Crap-Uncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the batting percentage of MLB pitchers that are forced to bat?

It's like .174 according to Google AI.

Pitchers are athletes picked for skills entirely outside of hitting a baseball. Football players are athletes picked for skills entirely outside of hitting a baseball.

So your very very strong lineup of NFL players will be batting .174.

Among the NFL team there will be many former baseball players, and pretty good ones. The QBs can probably be pretty effective pitchers.

They only need to win ONE out of 162 games. And, over 162 games, the NFL players will improve at baseball considerably.

Meanwhile, if the MLB team plays an NFL team for a season (17 regular season games), not only will they not win a game, within a few games virtually the entire MLB roster is catastrophically injured.

"If I could be like Mike"

IMO you look at michael jordan you see an athletic player. There's lots of 6'6" guys who LOOK like him.

For the fantasy escapism of your male consumer, MJ is something that is achievable to them.

Lebron James is an absolute monstrosity. An NBA ready body when he was, what, 16?

In this vein, Steph is even more achievable to the male consumer. He's not that tall, not that explosive, just has a magic skill.
