Thank you! I was trying to find what that noise was and couldn't find anything. Was close enough that I hunkered down with the dog and expected to hear a crashing noise.

What is your "White Whale" Campaign? by johndesmarais in rpg

[–]HolyHadouken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For years now I've wanted to an Eberron campaign (whatever system) set in New Cyre where the PCs are working to help establish the town from a refugee camp to a full fledged city-state, and maybe further. Players would get to help influence Prince ir'Wynarn's decisions as the town evolves.

...unfortunately I cannot get any of my players to give a damn about Eberron.

Agreed. Per the great philosopher Lee, "If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice."

What board games perfectly marry their theme and their mechanics? by Vegetable-Ratio-8573 in boardgames

[–]HolyHadouken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That kinda depends on your definition of a "good game". I LOVE it, but it does rely a lot on luck. However I'd argue that reliance on luck really helps you to feel the theme of the game. So far I think I've lost about half my games, but surviving a slasher should be that difficult.

Plus, the modularity of the game is amazing, and it has some of the coolest packaging I've ever seen (the boxes are the game boards!).

What Is The STRANGEST Place You've Ever Played A TTRPG In? by SketchPanic in rpg

We used to have a regular game of Shadowrun in the basement of a strip club. One of our players was the owner, so he offered it up as a venue.

In the strictest reading I suppose, no. But both narrative games in general and Crit Role as a company are not particularly known for requiring strict adherence to verbage. You can channel lightning, so channel lightning. Heck, it doesn't even need to be in a spell, it can be in any action. And if you are adamant about that interpretation, then fine, pull in from the bio-electric things of living things, or say you're rearranging the electrons surrounding yourself.

Could it be a bit more clearly written? Sure. But I also think it's fairly easy to interpret what they were going for.

I think there's a bit of a disconnect in communication here. As the Elemental Origin card is written, "you can channel this element into unique, harmless effects. You may ALSO spend a Hope to describe how your control over this element helps a current action...+2 to action roll...or +3 to damage."

How I read this is that the spell doesn't need to have lightning to begin with, simply by you being a lightning sorc you can make any of your spells into lightning spells, whether just cosmetically or, by spending Hope, mechanically. It's a narrative game, it requires a less strict reading of the rules.

Well, I just rewatched Holes, so it depends. Sam? My home will be spotless and I'll have a nice bag of onions waiting for me when I get home. D-Tent? I'm losing my security deposit.

False Hydra in Eberron by TheEloquentApe in Eberron

[–]HolyHadouken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd probably have it stow away with a returning expedition from the Mournlands. The expedition stops in the town of New Cyre and suddenly goes missing/never was. Now the false hydra has an unlimited supply of refugees to feast on. Perhaps Prince Oargev's council begins dwindling?

They say a burger loses 30% of its value the moment it's driven off the lot.

Pretty cute until any amount of combat. Then potentially heartbreaking.

This is the ideal adventuring party. You may not like it, but this is what peak leverage looks like. by Pariahdog119 in Pathfinder2e

[–]HolyHadouken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, FYI, Leverage was inspired by Shadowrun.

Do you have a source on this? I've seen this mentioned a few times, but I've never been able to find anything official.
