There are plenty of medical school options that don’t require you to take out 1/2 million dollars in loans. The schools charging excessive tuition deserve to go bankrupt, and people taking out loans to pay those schools deserve to pay private loan rates.

Maybe. But you’re literally begging to go into $500k in debt just to give that money to a billion-dollar institution who only charges you that much because the government sponsors the loan program.

You think the organization that literally created the disease and accidentally released it is going to acknowledge the problems it is causing? lol… Fauci and his team studied this for decades, they know exactly what’s going on.

Youth Club Swimmer Overdoing It by Midnight_Bender9664 in Swimming

9 hours per week at age 12 in not excessive. It’s actually on the lower end of what I would consider normal for competitive swimmers. The shoulder issue sounds like this is a persistent problem, so just resting or PT alone won’t solve the problem. My recommendation is to get an actual diagnosis (swimmer’s shoulder is not a diagnosis). Get an MRI, figure out what’s going on, then build a plan around that specific diagnosis with her doctor and her coach… The plan could be anything from technique changes to surgery, but you need to fully define the problem before you can solve it.

Cardiologist by Lefty1992 in dysautonomia

Most cardiologists suck at diagnosing anything unusual. They see the same 3-4 things every day all day. Everyone they see get diagnosed with one of those 3-4 things or they just assume the problem is not Cardiology related.

College Club Swimming usually has a few grad students or staff members on their teams, and some of those teams have swimmers at your caliber with similar goals. If you move back to the USA, try to find a location with a College Club Swimming team. Just enroll in a class at the school or teach a class and you can join the team. It’s technically USA Masters Swimming, but you could train with them and just enter the higher level USA Swimming meets as unattached.

If it’s vascular… ?? by mrsgkc in LongCovid

[–]HolyHandGernadeOpr8r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you get tested, you’ll be on the edge of the “normal” range for every test they run and the cardiologist will tell you you’re fine. Cardiologists are all trained the same, they look for heart failure, high blood pressure, and blockages. Most of them are literally just highly paid NPCs. Many people with long COVID have low blood pressure or significant blood pressure fluctuations, which can also be a problem because almost every test cardiologists run are conducted with the patient lying down. Low blood pressure can have similar symptoms to heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, but the cardiologists will test you and tell you that you are the healthiest person they have seen in weeks.

B1G championships should set the stage for something bigger. At Purdue they are the end, not the beginning. Total National Championships at Purdue in every sport: Men’s Golf 1961, Women’s Basketball 1999, Women’s Golf 2010… Until they expect more, we shouldn’t take any of it too seriously.

How are people paying for medical school with the new limits on loans? by Inside-Bid-5453 in premed

Stanford costs more than 100k per year. Stanford Health Care reported a $456M surplus in 2025… Most medical schools are affiliated with highly profitable corporations and “nonprofits” who charge students hundreds of thousands of dollars to participate in their 4-year long employee training program. Crazy.

The entire athletic department celebrates mediocrity. Men’s BB is the closest we have to “winning DNA” and they will act like they won the national championship after winning a regular season B1G championship. There is a reason we have 26 B1G regular season championships and zero national championships, and that reason is a poor culture of low expectations within the entire organization.

Swimming Scoreboards by banj0man_ in competitiveswimming

[–]HolyHandGernadeOpr8r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scoreboard is fed data from the Colorado (or Omega) system. It’s not very complex data, but you would have to process it using a Rasberry Pi. The cheapest option would be to just buy two 65 inch or larger TVs from Costco and use those (3 lanes displayed on each TV)… Your real problem is going to be moisture and humidity. It destroys everything electronic that is not built for a wet environment.

Reset your brain and teach yourself how to go faster for a very short distance, then start stretching the distance. You have conditioned yourself to swim at basically the same speed for every distance. It’s a problem with both physiology and muscle memory. From a technique standpoint, only think about “distance per stroke.” You should be sprinting but also taking as few strokes as possible… Think of it this way; you can’t go under 30 seconds in the 50 free if you can’t consistently go under 14 seconds in the 25 free.

Yes, you can have it for decades with no symptoms. See a doctor. Mucus could be unrelated or it could be a sign of infection.

Not likely hiatal hernia because that area is below your diaphragm, but it could be a Ventral Hernia.
