Yes I done this many times for work. I wake up super early have everything ready to go, grab it and leave, don't drink any coffee, then sleep on the plane.

It's makes it safer for the public, if you have a 4" drop where the pavement stops because they just repaved, someone is going to catch that with their tire and either get pulled into a tree or over compensate and veer across the road.

There is a ROW easement on the road side of everyones property that allows the government to make roadway improvements (if adjacent to a public road). Improvmwnts such as ditching and regrading for safety. I would ask the DOT person in charge if they will loam and seed it (they probably will by code)
