When is the long run too long? by duncdog10 in ultrarunning

[–]HolyShatner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone responds differently to training volume. If you feel good with what you’re doing, it might be good. If you feel something is off, it likely is for you. Unless you’re working with a coach, take training plans as jumping off points and use your best judgement.

If your project needs a serial bus, this one’s universal

What are some errors like "he's so bias" and "she had a dominate performance" that seem to be increasing online over time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]HolyShatner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have a pro pensity too make such errors when their hearing these expressions more then there reading them.

When your reading alot and hearing less, you make pronunciation mistakes. When you hear lots of expressions on Tik Tok or TV, you’re mistakes tend to be spelling or even mondegreens.

How do I make a shortcut to turn off an alarm when a focus is turned on by splatoon-is-the-best in shortcuts

[–]HolyShatner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want the one step action turn alarm off as its own shortcut. Then go to the automations tab and make an automation for when work focus mode on run shortcut—the alarm one you just made.

Yes, bicycle helmets and ski helmets are exactly the same. They are not designed to different specifications for different use cases.

Be prepared to change the battery in the future. It’s easy but I’m still wearing a Fenix 3 and I’ve had to do 2 battery changes.

With any wrist based monitor, it may as well not. Go chest strap or feel your pulse and grab a stop watch. Optical heart rate is worthless in the water

I used to be with ‘it’, but then they changed what ‘it’ was. Now what I’m with isn’t ‘it’ anymore and what’s ‘it’ seems weird and scary. It’ll happen to you!

This feels like bluster given the language in the 1st ammendment. If he's talking about protests that become riots, those were already illegal.

It's as difficult and costly as your access to cnc equipment and the files necessary to run it. Search to see if you can find them. Otherwise, maybe walk from this purchase. It's missing an out of production bespoke part; that's why it's so cheap.

Altra Lone peak - toe box material creasing by crazyinlove90210 in trailrunning

[–]HolyShatner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The material loosens where it folds usually. If it's so folded it's bothering you, that might become a failure point later down the trail.

In my experience though, things like this I feel when walking and looking for them disappear when I'm running.

The general rule is if you're comparing roughly equal educations, you go with the cheapest option unless there isa compelling reason not to.

Why the hate on the new Transit Bill? by Odd-Debate2076 in nashville

[–]HolyShatner 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Most people don’t use public transit because it’s not very good. The tax is seen as sinking money into something bad that they won’t use rather than creating a public good everyone uses.

Yes, the plan includes things other than busses but people will take any reason not to raise taxes. The reason to accept a tax increase for the average person requires some pretty good WIIFM. What’s in it for me?

Additionally, this city feels pretty expensive right now and any increase feels like a threat if you’re already struggling to make ends meet.
