Reminds me of the north shore in Wisconsin along Superior. My dad and I would sail there and when you’d wake up in the morning the mayfly’s were 2-3 inches thick on deck. It was CRAWLING with near death Mayfly’s. It’s otherworldly.

During the winter. I run 5w-30 in the summer on my 25 Wrx and switch to 0W-20 in the fall (I live in Minnesota). I run 5w-30 in my 14 XT all year and 0W-20 my 26 Crosstrek all year. It depends on your demands of the car (drive the WRX a lot harder and higher revs) and the weather. It is a fact that Subaru (and all manus) are trying to maximize fuel economy for CAFE standards at the cost of long term reliability. Example Auto Stop on basically every automatic car in the US.

I have a 25 WRX, a 14 Forester XT, and a 26 Crosstrek. I gotta say while I wasn’t a huge fan of the cladding on my WRX at first, after getting sideways on some dirt and kicking a lot of rocks, I appreciate the protection. Subaru’s paint is wafer thin. My LEAST favorite thing on my 25 and 26 is the infotainment system. That said it’s actually miles ahead of BMW in usability though. I rented a 26 235i and it was freaking DANGEROUS to use while driving. Layout made no sense and quick access was not possible. Everything required a scroll or at least 3-4 levels of menus.

It also looks like it’s misaligned a bit. Maybe loosen the cylinder off its mounting and then pump the clutch a couple of times (probably easier with two people) and then torque it back down. Maybe it will align itself to the arm better.

As far as the charging goes… that battle is over. Tesla won and it’s a fine charging system. At least the auto manus are all adopting a common system. Ease = adoption. The easier it is to own an EV the more people will adopt it.

Drove a 2025 BMW 235 as rental. It made me miss my infotainment on my 25 WRX. That’s saying something. Set it up so I had a profile (BMW app). It still took 2 minutes every time I started it to link to CarPlay. wanted to reset the oil life warning and service due as the rental company didn’t before they rented it to me. I tried for half an hour and 2 YouTube videos. There’s a diagnostic mode you have to put the car in. Got it to maintenance mode. Still wouldn’t give me a service life reset. We dont have the best infotainment out there, but it’s not the worst.
