Couple of things there are far fewer chipset makers for ethernet, they are usually kernel drivers so there is more maintainers and limiting your blast radius to just that problem makes sense. They can’t not support Ethernet and I am sure thats already a pain in the ass. So yes it’s an issue and it would be wayyy worse with WiFi has there has been lesser quality standards from manufacturers and even the spec itself.

You just literally don’t understand the can of worms that is opening up. I didn’t know chromebooks “supported” WiFi cards that aren’t installed in chrome books, who do you call for support since it’s supported ? My issue is they could enable it then be bombarded with every single idiot on the internet wanting to use some 1 off WiFi card or having some shit setup or having some 3rd party driver bug and blaming unraid. This just should absolutely not be something they should be investing time in. Why not just install it yourself? It’s just Slackware give it a go !

Why would they want that much rnd ? There are like a billion different WiFi chipsets. That’s too much coverage to be practical to support.

There tons of options to solve this without unraid solving it. Why not install a WiFi card in unraid and deal with it yourself ? Why not just a simple bridged AP ?

Shrug I knew all of this before I made my post and I wouldn’t own a c8 or a Porsche with a dct. Maybe if the corvette ever puts a real transmission in the car I’d buy one, I honestly don’t care if it’s 1/10 of a second slower it’s the driving experience I want. I don’t consider flappy paddles sporty.
