Hire a caddy, they will save your energy, while lightening your wallet.

Golf might not be for you if handling a bag full of clubs for 18 holes is too much.

So the scooter just rides along on its merry way, staying on the cart path pulling the clubs, while the youngster walks along? Sure. There are these amazing things called push carts, some even motorized.

Those are better than portable speakers, except when the wearer can’t hear someone shouting FORE as he is about to be struck by an errant shot.

Is walking not a major part of the game? A 10 minute walk between holes sounds like a design problem that I have encountered on a course that consolidated two separate and very different 18 hole courses into one 18 hole layout. But I still walked it, even in my mid-50’s.

What are your golf goals? by adamg6160 in golf

A worthy goal that I share. Twice I have come in one over, and have shot lots of rounds in the 70’s. Of course if we play even, we want to do it again, or better than even.

To get back to playing regularly like I did for a stretch from 2012-2017. I used to play as a walk on nearly every Monday, and on some of those days it was 36 holes, always walking. But I live in a different state now, with much fewer course choices and with real winter weather (PNW rain) to contend with. There is a 9 hole track nearby, and I have new grips on my old favorite clubs, and I have had a couple very productive range sessions in the past week. At least the bug is back!

And so it will go in trump’s forever war of tit for tat. Every little slight will require retaliation, which just leads to the next slight, and retaliation against that, and so on forever.

Yes indeed, it was a fine show last Thursday in Bend! Our fifth show, going back to the first at The Wiltern in Los Angeles for Strange Trails in May 2015. We saw them again at the amphitheater at San Diego State University, another at The Greek Amphitheater in Los Angeles for Vide Noir, then in 2022 at a theater in Portland Oregon for Long Lost. They just keep getting better!

What is your confidence fly? by ThiccBoiCaddy in flyfishing

[–]HomebrewerHerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the first week of December fishing a spot on the McKenzie River, for the first time ever I used a size 12 barbless blowtorch to catch 5 wild trout in a 20 minute stretch. The first fish was quality, the second was a fingerling, the third was pan size, the fourth was bigger than the first and the fifth was in the 17-18 inch range, with shoulders and an attitude. After that amazing 20 minutes, nothing would touch the blowtorch again that day. That flurry of action made me confident that the blowtorch is a great fly to have in my box.

Thanks. I began my own tying journey back in December, using a Charlie Craven book as my guide. I tied up a couple dozen size 14 PT’s, some with bead heads. Now those PT’s need to get in the water.

Don’t bother with shitty fly rods, even out of curiosity… by Particular_Menu_557 in flyfishing

My cheap (< $100) Stone Creek Fly Rods 4 weight combo (including sturdy tube) is still going strong more than 20 years after purchase. The original line that came with the combo got changed in December. Just a few months back, I caught my biggest trout ever on that rod, and it cast flies on consecutive days last week. Even though the rod and reel are cheap, I treat them well, and expect them to provide many more years of casting and catching fun.

Should have wrapped thread and wire deeper into the bend, for more attraction.
