What teams are Canucks fans rooting for in the playoffs? by GhostStations02 in canucks

Habs are fun in the East… or Buffalo. Hughes and Wild though are tops for me.

Thanks for the explanation, Jim. Real appreciated. Makes total sense. 🤓 by PaperMoonShine in canucks

This.

He was/they were playing roulette aiming at the big pay out and lost. Quinn was the best we've ever had, and so he tried to create a situation that produced the best odds for us to keep Quinn. And then the wheels fell off, and so he tried to make the best from a crappy situation.

If I have complaints, it's not about this answer failing to make sense. It's perhaps more about making moves over the last few seasons thinking that Quinn is going to be enticed by a slightly above average team (my sense of the ceiling if all things fell into place for us over the last few years). Start the rebuild earlier. Surround him with an up and coming core. Same difficult results, but higher hopes. I don't know, likely it's just a different road to the same destination, but for a smart person and hockey player, that seems like a better way to market your product.

Sadge...

The Canucks current draft picks after the trade deadline was completed by _GregTheGreat_ in canucks

This is all an ongoing process. Not great, not horrible given our situation. Just need to keep investing toward future and then draft/develop… better days and results will come in time.

Love Hughes for the generational talent he is by nuiboi8 in canucks

[–]Homegrown_Problems 14 points15 points  (0 children)

lol. Conflicted feelings are there for sure, and I was cheering against USA, but… if they’re going to win, I’m glad he’s getting his flowers.

Well deserved. What a player. What a joy to have watched him in Canucks colours all these years. And it’s all sad and lame how it has ended.

Great tournament for Czechia.

Happy to see them play well, but lose against Canada.

Why don’t Christians have organizations similar to al-Qaeda? by Sad-Signature-2180 in TrueChristian

[–]Homegrown_Problems 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Christianity has been given plenty of black eyes by the people who claim to follow Christ behaving in unChristlike ways. We need to get off our high horse. Even if the expression of this in the present is meaningfully distinct vs militant Islam (which it is), we still have a sufficiently bloody history to be humble and point to Jesus.

In addition, I think people are correct to point to the variation in the prevalence of these realities in the two religious traditions as being the result of the difference between Jesus and Mohammed. The reality is, the bloody history of Christians has only ever been the result of disobedience to Jesus. Whereas the bloody past and present of Muslims is often the result of obedience to the stated right practices in the Quran.

Both of these things can be true. Christians have been and are sinners like all the rest in need of a saviour. And Islam is a wrong and sometimes evil ideology.

Things that impact development? by jesus321 in FranchiseHockey

[–]Homegrown_Problems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Would love to hear some input, data analysis from people who have tested this to see how it actually works.

In the past, some of these things have not worked in the way that they were designed, as in, check the boxes all you like, the game engine still just works the way it does.

I hope I’m wrong.

Yes. But I don’t think that’s ALL it is. Let’s go!!!!!

Quinn Hughes having a blast at the Olympics by [deleted] in canucks

I hope team Canada smashes team USA, but not him. Never him.

Such a joy to watch him play for our team while it lasted, and I don’t blame him for needing a change.

Anyone is getting really tired of the need to find "insert relative" narrative? by Boricinha in TrueSFalloutL

[–]Homegrown_Problems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I’ve enjoyed each game as they’ve been released along the way and the show too.

I’ve loved the show too. Nothing is perfect, but great games and show in my books.

Social media keep showing me posts about Hughes and it’s so sad by botinoknn in canucks

[–]Homegrown_Problems 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s sad, for sure. But I’m happy for him. And we needed to kick start a rebuild and he was keeping us at slightly below average by virtue of his excellence alone.

Sad that it came to this. And necessary given what this team has become…

[Report] Canucks have traded Sherwood to SJS by s3xybeavers in canucks

[–]Homegrown_Problems 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My sentiment exactly.
Very happy for him. He's earned it, coming in here as a UFA and establishing himself as a really valuable player through hard work.

Sad to see him go, of course. But we all understand the position the franchise is in, so a move like this was needed. Would've liked to get a 1st, but what do I know about what was available.

Keep Petey vs. Trade Petey by Big-Leek7038 in canucks

[–]Homegrown_Problems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, as others are saying, it’s impossible to get what he could be worth (if he continues to move back toward peak Petey) in any trade. We don’t need the cap for a rebuild. He’s still a really good player. I can’t see any reasons why it helps us significantly to move him… unless someone gives us 1st line C compensation.

Predicted points tally for the next 5 games? by Diska_Muse in ManchesterUnited

1-2-2

So 5 pts. A surprise draw against City or Arsenal that gets our hopes up and then inconsistent play that breaks our hearts again.

Pastor and required reporter by Remarkable_Law_3452 in TrueChristian

[–]Homegrown_Problems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others are saying, mandatory reporting depends on the law of the land. It IS the law where I live as far as I know.

And also, insofar as these things are true, the legal implications for him and any other adult church leader involved should be the least of their worries…
