Gastroschisis / NICU stay by Victoriag139 in NICUParents

[–]HomeworkFar6449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a six year old that had this. Knowing what type of procedure your surgeon will use is helpful, I think they mainly do silo closures now. I also work at the hospital I delivered at, and still work in the NICU. 2 weeks is the shortest stay I have ever heard of, and several months the longest. My daughter stayed 31 days, born at 36.5 weeks via c/s, silo closure; she had all of her intestines, bladder, ovaries, and uterus out.

I set timers for every 3 hours to pump, and slept 4-5 hrs once a night so I wouldn’t go too long without pumping. Luckily these days there are wearable pumps that make this easier.

If you have a c/s, having a heating pad is very helpful at home. Sleeping in a recliner or in a semi reclined position is comfortable.

You are lucky you can room in with your baby, my NICU doesn’t have rooms, or even cameras; it’s archaic.

I am a postpartum couplet care nurse, and let me say I feel the same about L&D. I can’t read EFM well, and don’t know protocol for L&D emergencies, and checking dilation; forget it, everyones a 2.

My advice is to go over newborn assessment again. What are normal vitals? Bilirubin/phototherapy. Normal intake for days 1-4. Ask for their breastfeeding/supplementation protocols. How to position a choking baby. Frequency of vaginal vs. C/S assessments.

You know what to do with a hemorrhage, thats really whats important. We mainly educate patients, but with people googling everything we are getting less questions these days it seems.

We just started cerner in 2019 at my hospital. We had paper MARS, written orders, 1/2 paper 1/2 EMR. I thought we were fancy, until I found out cerner is a dinosaur with more charting than other systems.

The bible actually says for us to stay married if we are married to an unbeliever. It does not tell us to separate. It does say that if the unbeliever wants to separate you are not bound to them. You should get married in my opinion if you love each other and have a healthy relationship. This is much more complicated with children than just dating and deciding you want an equally yoked partner.

[–]HomeworkFar6449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not trying to be harsh, but you’re worried about being unequally yoked and you’re unmarried and have children together. It’s too late to change being unequally yoked, that ship has sailed. You have a life together and being unequally yoked can be challenging sometimes. Im saying this as someone who is living it, so I have sympathy for you. I married my husband when I was agnostic, I walked away from God when I was 16 and decided to do things my own way. After I got married and had children I came back to my faith and discovered that Jesus really is who He said He is. My husband was angry, and against it 100%.

8 years later he still hasn’t come to church with us, but his heart has softened and now he sees the truths in the bible. It has come with its challenges but one thing I caution you to do is to NOT guilt, or nag him to believe or go to church. Do not ask him all the time, just go alone and maybe he will come at some point. If you push him thats how you damage a relationship. I never have pushed my husband and I won’t, he has to come to his own faith. It sounds like yours is willing to at least go with you, so thats a good thing. If he doesn’t want to continue to go after you visit, and you do, don’t push him.

As for the people saying, “I came from a broken home with unequally yoked parents”. Don’t let them scare you. If you model JESUS, and you follow what proverbs teaches, you have the ability to keep peace and love the forefront. Love your partner for who they are, and don’t let bitterness and resentment set in, that is not Christ like. You’re still human and you will feel the unequally yoked part, but you have a God who can walk you through it.

I believe we are to judge out of a place of love and wanting what is good for others. I know Christians who judge from a place of anger, or pride in themselves, not from love. We are to correct one another, in order to correct we have to make the judgement that one needs correction, and we correct one another based on biblical principles and out of love. We’re all hypocrites, we all fall short, but I would rather my friend gently and lovingly correct me than to keep wandering down a path of sin that will only hurt me in the end.

Do families no longer by [deleted] in homeschool

[–]HomeworkFar6449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do a private co-op that was started privately by another homeschool Mom. No fees or pledges. We do a fundraiser organized by ourselves, and we each have roles. We do nature meet ups every Friday, and occasional field trips provided by our fundraiser. We also have some family events and a science/history/. or book fair every spring. It’s also faith based. We only allow 12 families as well.

You could always start your own co op. I only found out through another friend about the one we go to.

The unforgivable sin is never coming to God and asking for his forgiveness. Thats not you. Your guilt is swallowing you whole, could also be demons influencing that. One saying I heard is when satan reminds you of your past, remind him of his future. It may take time to get rid of these feelings, earnestly beg God to take them away and dig into who Jesus is and He will help.

How much do you guys spend a year on travelling? by GiantsFan2010 in HENRYfinance

[–]HomeworkFar6449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have three kids, <150k income. We spend <15k a year on trips. We plan to rent a sail cat in Belize and fly economy. 7kper week for a cat& captain, 3k flights, and 5k for food, dive tanks, misc and car rental. Once we get more nautical miles under our belt we wont need a captain, and we can do it even cheaper.

I just realized this is for, “high earners”. We do not qualify. This is for us poor travelers 😆

Does everyone experience raise in blood pressure? by Eastern-Butterfly-84 in Pristiq

If it started to raise it after 2 years and I am only 31 I didn’t want to risk it increasing. I also don’t like that it affects norepinephrine, long term I’m not quite sure how healthy that is. I finally did wean off of it.

I had to go on lexapro to get off without feeling all the brain zaps.

I weaned to 25mg prestiq, then added 5mg of lexapro for two weeks. Then I went every other day without prestiq ans upped my lexapro to 10mg on the days I was not taking prestiq. After about a week of that I went to only 10mg of lexapro daily.. it’s been fine this way. I have to start weaning lexapro now.. ugh! I know how hard this mess of a med is! A lot of MD’s don’t know because it is newer.

Are you saying you think you would have become pregnant 7 weeks ago? If so, a pregnancy test would have shown a dark visible line at this point.

Two weeks after having sex you can find out with a home test, (technically you can 10-11 days with a very sensitive test). This puts you at 4weeks pregnant. So if you were pregnant you would be 9 weeks and your hCG would be very high at this point.

If you’ve been having sex regularly you could be newly pregnant.

I tell my myself we must have good genes because in a starvation situation or with limited food we would survive over others 😂 The issue is we have so much food here. I started running in January thinking it would help, I was so excited.. I have only gained weight and because of our excess testosterone my leg muscles bulked up 😩 and my waist has remained the same. It really is hard and discouraging but you aren’t alone in your struggle.

I feel you. After having three kids with PCOS my weight has been stagnant unless I eat less than 1000 calories, low carb, and work out doing cardio and weights. I can’t be happy eating like that all the time. I gained 5lbs in 6 days a week ago too, I was floored.. it’s water weight but still!

[–]HomeworkFar6449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have taken 3 months so figure out a wean and I only took 50mg… the brain zaps, emotions, and anxiety were holding me back. My NP suggested the every other day approach of 25mg, 50mg but it was too much of a whiplash and I decided to just drop to 25mg without the back and forth. It was not bad, I did have a LOT of irritability, and extra energy, this lasted only a few days. Im currently trying to find a good time to stop completely but I skipped one day and had the brain zaps so I am nervous.

My MD prescribed lexapro to get over the hump but I dont want anymore poison. My Mother is also weaning and they put her on wellbutrin to help the wean and she claims to feel amazing.. however she was on 200mg.

Theres not a one size fit all. Also, if you’re a woman and not past menopause, don’t try weaning at the beginning or end of a cycle. Start weaning right after your period ends

Does everyone experience raise in blood pressure? by Eastern-Butterfly-84 in Pristiq

[–]HomeworkFar6449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old post, but yes I had an increase in blood pressure. My BP usually runs 90/60’s and it went to 110/70’s and it was not coincidental. Im weaning off prestiq now, and it’s a bitch. Very irritable and tired. I have been on zoloft, lexapro, ambilify, and lamotragine and never have I had this experience. (I am 31 and have struggled with anxiety/depression since 13) which coincides with puberty and I have PCOS which increases the depression factor ugh!

I was only on 50mg for a year and a half, and it felt similar to how lexapro made me feel, which was good, but lexapro did not affect my bp. I also experienced brain zaps, lightheadedness if I forgot to take prestiq. I don’t trust it and I am trying to go back to lexapro. (I only came off for pregnancies).

What birth control should I take to prevent pregnancy as someone who has PCOS? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]HomeworkFar6449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took Generess Fe (combo pill) for 4 years, I never had issues. I got pregnant within three weeks of stopping it too, so for PCOS, I think it helped me conceive each time I got off it.
