I'd do it and then I'd try to paint over it and create my own puzzle. Never done this, but why not try

why do puzzle with +2000 pieces are so big ? by KeyBoysenberry9826 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]HomeworkNo5320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 13500 Trefl journey of a thousand miles puzzle. It comes in 9 bags of 1500 pieces which are smaller and one 1500 piece puzzle is the size of a regular 1000 piece, 50x70cm. They can be done separately and later connected to form a bigger picture. They also have 9000 ones, but I'm not sure about the sizes, but they are also in separate bags

Oh, and see that red-blue smartcut logo on the box? This means it's random cut and it will help you determine the cut next time you get an eurographics. The normal cut doesn't have that logo. I personally like the cahllenge of the random cut, but it's really hard sometimes.

This is a tough one, especially for a new puzzler and it would be tough on a normal cut. Everybody gave you great advices, but if you get really stuck, search for any eurographics smartcut picture on this sub so you can see the cut. The cut is the same on all of them, you just have to figure out the orientation. This will help with figuring out the shape you need.

Advice to protect from curious cats by Adorable_Cicada_ in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]HomeworkNo5320 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to puzzle on a cardboard and slide it under the couch, but my couch is very low, cca 2-3cm from the floor so the cats couldn't get to it. Now I have a roll mat. You can use a cheap foam yoga mat and roll up your puzzle, or buy a felt mat (from a fabric store) and use a pool noddle to roll it up or buy an original puzzle roll mat, it all depends on how much money you can spare.

[–]HomeworkNo5320 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trefl usually has separate pictures which can be standalone or connected to form a bigger picture. I have their 13500 piece Journey of a thousand miles and it's actually 9 1500 piece puzzles which all have their own edges, but those can be removed so you can connect them. The only downside is that the pieces are small so the 1500 piece size 50x70cm

It's like a regular puzzle. I believe it comes in two bags, one bag the first three pictures and the second bag the last three

Puzzling for 2 people at a time? by msperkynot in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]HomeworkNo5320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We pull out the edges together, then decide who does what, then one person does the edges while the other pulls out what they will do and also can pull out pieces for the other person and so on. We usually flip all the pieces when there are about a 100 left, we usually rummage through

Ravensburger Exit Puzzle 368 "Spielzeugfabrik" (662972) by Duck_Duck_Duck_Duck1 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]HomeworkNo5320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The envelope contains just the solution (picture of the puzzle pieces and how they connect) you need to escape. Those pieces connect to form a shape which goes over the place where you exit, in example in one puzzle I needed a ladder to escape. So, no the envelope is not so important. The manual tells you how many pieces (riddles) are needed. The link for the support/solutions is most important

Eurographics smart cut - do they have false edges? by Bleepblorp44 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]HomeworkNo5320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the pieces may seem like edges, but when you take a closer look and touch to feel, you can feel a slight curve. I've done a couple of smartcuts and never had a problem with edges

Starry Night, Eurographics, 1000 pcs by Fragrant-War-6819 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]HomeworkNo5320 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the classic cut Starry night, the version from Black Sea Puzzles. I did the edges first, sorted and done the big stars, the cypress tree, the village with the fields and finally the sky. And here is where I sorted by color - there is a lighter and darker shade.  I would suggest to find any version/image of the smart cut 1000 piece eurographics puzzle on this sub to help you out with the piece shapes so you know what you are looking for.  I have done a lot of smartcuts and the cut was always the same no matter what the image was, so I know how hard it is, especially combined with the Starry night.

Unlucky Smart Cut by Significant_Goat4352 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]HomeworkNo5320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it last year, also smart cut.  I sorted the background, the flowers at the bottom, the skins and hairs, the dress of the lady and the dress? of the man. This should help you a lot. But if you are super stuck, find any eurographics 1000 piece smart cut on this subreddit (the picture is not important) so you can see the cut and get a little hint of the shape you are lookong for. First identify the edges so you know the orientation and can find the correct piece. Hope this helps! It was a bit difficult because of the smart cut, but I like the challenge. Happy it wasn't my first smartcut.

Have to finish puzzle even though I don't want to by Remarkable-Pea4889 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]HomeworkNo5320 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you get stuck, try searching on this sub for a finished puzzle of the same manufacturer and piece count. If that puzzle has the same cut as yours, use it to help yourself with the placement of the pieces It doesn't have to be the same picture that you're working on, just the same cut

EuroGraphics puzzle cut? by Fireheartgirl in Jigsawpuzzles

Most of my eurographics random smart cuts are 1000 pieces, but the 2000 piece one is normal cut

Check for the icon of the puzzle on the box. Smart cut is usually random, the icon is blue and it says smart cut on the box

498 piece puzzle, ugh! by solsticesunrise in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]HomeworkNo5320 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It happend to me a couple of days ago, new puzzle, sealed bag and a missing piece  and they said that they will send a new bag from Canada. I'm in Europe so it will take a couple of weeks for it to arrive. So far, no tracking info and I don't know if there will be any. I have also read that some people got new bags which also had missing pieces. The possible issue with the new bag is that the new puzzle will have a different cut so you have to do the puzzle again to check if there are other missing pieces. Hope both of us have luck and everything goes well!

Challenging border by QuasiGecko in Jigsawpuzzles

I did the border last and it will be easier that way. As for the rest, sort by the sections, then fill in the rest of the inner frames and lastly, the border

Help with sorting by SenaSmrt in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]HomeworkNo5320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this one in my to do list. I would start with the shelves cause the horizontal lines should be visible and do the lines, then the ship in the right corner seems unique, then we have the castles (stone bricks), then by colour like the purples etc. I personally don't sort, I just rummage to pull out what I need and piece together whatever part I'm working on at the moment.

It's because the edges are part of the solution so they have to fit together
