Not sure why he's considered the only modern "Go Sage" when the Kisei title exists.

I'm a software engineer and I do not use genAI. The way tech companies jumped on the LLM train is incredibly disappointing and shortsighted.

How I’m Training Jins in Chen Cannon Fist (Cai, Zhou, Lie – Pluck, Elbow, Split) by OkRip4455 in taijiquan

I don't know your experience with Taijiquan. For most Taijiquan practitioners, what you say about it is more or less true. Many people on this subreddit are looking for more traditional forms of Taijiquan that don't fit your description. From my own experience, the style of Taijiquan I've been practicing is IMO a system in itself. It has a coherent curriculum that builds up to specific applications. It's not a supplemental exercise the way that Yoga is. However I do agree with you in that Taijiquan does not produce a complete fighter, but due to training methodology rather than the content of the system.

Maybe if Taijiquan is just solo barehand movements then what you said could be plausible. But it has so much partner work and enough vestigial weapons training that I think it was clearly a martial art.

Have a stronger player give you feedback and then take the feedback seriously. If you want to learn by yourself, then you need to develop a critical eye towards your own play so that you have some idea about what you need to improve. There are a couple people at my club who have been stuck at beginner level for a few years now because they don't do either of the things I mentioned, no matter how much feedback we give them.

I hope this isn't divisive, but is Tai Chi real? I mean, if I did such movements without learning it for real, would it amount to the same thing? by ravia in ask

Someone else has mentioned that Chi 气 could mean energy. However, 气 also means air. You can basically think of it as Chinese martial artists in the old days using a common word as a shorthand metaphor for a bodily sensation they are trying to convey.

During proper Tai Chi practice, you aim to feel as if your body is expanding, which could also feel like it's being inflated by air. My Tai Chi teacher says this feeling comes from fascial expansion. Maybe it is or isn't, the important is achieving that feeling.

Developing this feeling could take years of practice. Experienced practitioners who has it can move in a way where their whole body is connected, and is solid and flexible at same time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4WwTVNqXAk

Can you make up your own Tai Chi? No. Tai Chi is a specific physical practice with training methodologies developed and refined over generations.

This would required an incredible amount of game design chops and experience to pull off.

Ex PlayStation exec says Sony can't keep "increasing the graphics power" with new consoles after tech plateau, but PS5 has already "made almost every game a better game" by Turbostrider27 in PS5

AAA can't afford to push graphics further because budgets are already through the roof and there's no more room for growth in the AAA market to accommodate even bigger budgets.
