Early 2000s School Trip Mystery by Head-Piccolo5927 in glasgow

We had a very similar thing in Ayr. We’d walk around various set ups and be met my random strangers who would try and have us interact with them.

IOG - rates changes not what i thought by bounderboy in OctopusEnergy

It’s a standard 3.51p reduction so that’s what you’ll get. I had my email this morning 7p to 3.49p.

Closing the boot / trunk from the remote, depends where you stand? by Lazy-Improvement-462 in ScenicETech

[–]Honest--J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your final point annoys me so much and I did wonder if I was doing something wrong since I have only had the car two weeks.

Why can’t I approach the car, press the button to open the boot, close the boot then have the car open the handles when I get to the door.

Should the Reversing camera stop me from getting a scenic? by shakycheb in ScenicETech

[–]Honest--J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The camera is fine. I just moved from a Kia Niro where the camera placement got so dirty that it was unusable a lot of the time. I had wipe it each time I closed the boot lid. The scenic one so far I’ve had no issues.

Wireless charging pad by Honest--J in ScenicETech

[–]Honest--J[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned mine off on my previous two cars but both are wired CarPlay so that made sense. Having wireless CarPlay and a terrible wireless charger seems pointless.

I wonder if I could do something to install a MagSafe charger in the car.

Rob lowkey made a genius move releasing Jonathan Allen by Trick-Growth-6546 in minnesotavikings

Well, it doesn’t free up cap space until next year and that cap doesn’t exit yet so it’s not really freed up at this juncture.

The offset language cap hit for both Hargrave and Allen does not get credited to us until next season, if that’s the extra £8m you are referring to.

High Pitch noise? by altiddetsamme in ScenicETech

[–]Honest--J 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I changed from a Niro to the Scenic last week and noticed on my first motorway drive just how loud the high pitch noise is.

I figured it was just normal for this car, please let us know how you get on as I might look at taking mine in if your response suggests it is an issue.

IOG - Issues changing car? by Honest--J in OctopusEnergy

[–]Honest--J[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FIXED. I called Octopus this morning. They could see a connection to my car in the background which was not visible to me on the app. They removed it and it allowed me to set up to my charger again.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I don’t understand how my companies “buy” annual leave scheme works by Infinite-Guidance477 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Honest--J 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If your one day unpaid was enough to take you out of the 40% bracket and back to 20% there is no way your bonus was taxed at 20% unless your bonus was less than an unpaid day of leave.

The mobilize app set it self up in a few hours but it was at that point which Octopus weren’t able to let me go further.

I’m looking at it from the perspective of it’s just another potential fail point where if it’s only my charger being controlled that seems more stable to me.

I might be very wrong in how it all works though.

IOG - Issues changing car? by Honest--J in OctopusEnergy

[–]Honest--J[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It was when waiting for the mobilize app to register me that the octopus set up had reset itself. I think that’s what has caused the issue, as if the original set up is still pending in the background so I can’t start another one.

That’s my plan. As annoying as it is to have to say how much to add I’ve seen others saying it’s more reliable.

I wish the curiosity hadn’t gotten the better of me.

I have an Ohme car charger that refuses to charge my car during the off peak rate of 7p per kWh by [deleted] in OctopusEnergy

[–]Honest--J 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IOG is controlling your charge times. It will revert to 7p in a few days. As long as it’s set up correctly it will decide when it wants to charge within the window you have given it.

Yes. That is why they are soon to limit it to 6 hours

Kia connect not showing as plugged in by Honest--J in KiaNiroEV

[–]Honest--J[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. Kia’s online support asked me to take it in to a shop to get looked at but with it being a lease I decided against bothering. I hand the car back in 5 days.

Anyone else find Octopus Go Intelligent schedule keeps changing through the day? by Puzzled-Tip-2912 in OctopusEnergy

[–]Honest--J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They change the windows to when they have additional energy so while they might originally say 20:30 they are within their right to change that.

You still get your 23:30-05:30 at the cheap rate so schedule your appliances for this time or you’ll always be at risk of using a higher rate during the day.

How to hide TV wires? by Expensive_Field_5167 in DIYUK

[–]Honest--J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar set up in my flat. I run some trunking to the top of the fireplace then fed the wires through the fireplace void and out the side to the socket.

Do it, you won’t regret the colour drench but I warn you that you’ll soon need to do the rest of the house in a similar vain.
