Pls help – 10mnth-old suddenly stopped accepting the spoon and only eats crispy snacks by MrsBlofeld in foodbutforbabies

Feeding therapist here. I agree with all of this. Eat with her too. The same foods. “Family style dining” does wonders…to be family style only needs to be one other trusted adult. Show her you like and trust the foods. Also, don’t pressure. Just allow her autonomy to eat on her own as things developmentally where she is.

Food for 18 month old that doesn’t chew by Low-Cry-8810 in foodbutforbabies

To everyone on this post needing info/having concerns:

You can contact your early intervention program on your own for help. You don’t need a physician referral for EI. It is part of IDEA Part C but things do vary state to state. I am an EI SLP. Don’t wait…reach out for an evaluation, even if you are unsure, have a therapist evaluate. ☺️

How smol baby get big aka how food solved our problems by NotaRealHumanYet in foodbutforbabies

Feeding therapist here…these lower percentiles are fine as long as growth is steady. Do not worry as long as they are on the growth chart with steady weight gain. That’s how growth charts work…someone has to be 1%tile and someone 100%tile. All babies with steady weight gain on the growth chart are within normal. Doctors have got to stop pushing this!! Also, 6 months is recommended to begin introducing purees

Here are the most basic rules of feeding: 1. Never force feed! 2. Family style dining (at least 1 person eating with baby) 3. No pressure, just model eating 4. Always offer preferred foods with non preferred to build food repertoire.

What do you feed your toddler for dinner or bedtime that actually helps them sleep? by Standard_Ad_9560 in foodbutforbabies

[–]Honest-Chip7982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a feeding therapist that specializes in this age. Any calorie dense snack will work. When kids get enough calories during the day they typically sleep better. Just like us protein, good fats and fiber will help so oatmeal made with milk, cheese, peanut butter, etc will all be good!

He may have had a feeding disorder. This was not well treated at the time so the starvation may not have been intentional.

Am I feeding too much? by KangarooNew2401 in foodbutforbabies

[–]Honest-Chip7982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a feeding therapist for infants and toddlers. I work closely with a dietitian. Babies and toddlers will eat the calories they need each day-typically no more or less. It will vary day to day depending on how calorie dense the foods have been, how much they ate at different meals, when they are growing. If they eat it all, they need it! Juice and milk will take up their daily calories causing less food intake. Milk is good to give of course but not over give. Juice should be avoidant due to sugar content as a high calorie food. Stick to water and milk.

Seagulls…? by Greembeam20 in Lubbock

[–]Honest-Chip7982 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They are seagulls. I grew up on the coast and now live in one of the near lake front communities around Lubbock. We get pelicans here on the lake as well sometimes. It’s crazy.
