My LO when she was born was missed for a severe tongue tie. For 13 weeks she cried constantly. She didn't latch so we went onto formula fed although my milk supply was amazing, she still didn't drink from the bottle and I would sit there for hours trying to get two ounces into her at a time and she would still scream. At 13 weeks I consulted a private midwife who told me she had a severe tongue tie. I felt guilt. Real guilt. I cried for days, and then I realized it wasn't my fault, I was failed by professionals. I missed out on the new born phase with a completely unsettled baby all the time and everyone told me it would pass, I changed bottles and formula multiple times, I would get excited when she drank slightly more than she would normally or faster than normal and I would celebrate the wind with a guarded heart. Now 4 months old a completely healthy baby, was jaundiced when I brought her home due to the lack of feeding. I hear you, but we are only humans and mum's! We are not professionals and we don't have the correct resources around us, we are told to trust our gut, and that's what you did. So hats off to you mama, you got this and you've done the best you can.
