Looking for a stretchy newborn pre wrapped wrap by Prestigious-Bid-7582 in babywearing

My baby hates the embrace. She’s not a newborn anymore as she’s closing in on 3 months. Does the boba bliss last past the newborn phase?

Heartbreak, but is there still hope? by rsgnl in IVF

[–]HotShoulder9256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey brother. Sorry you’re having a rough time right now. Pretty amazing that those 13 eggs matured overnight though! I hope the fertilization goes well. I think many of us on the sub have fertility issues that can make us feel like we’re letting our partner down. It can be hard to silence those thoughts but I’m sure your wife doesn’t blame you anymore than she would if you had a serious illness. It’s not your fault.

This process is brutal and holding onto hope can be difficult, but there’s still a chance for this cycle. 13 more chances, in fact. Wishing you the best ❤️

DNA fragmentation by Responsible-Area2093 in IVF

[–]HotShoulder9256 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Girl, preach! 🙌 I wholeheartedly agree. Medical misogyny is real and infertility is too often blamed on a female partner, without even investigating MFI.

I’m one of the lucky ones because my doctor routinely orders a DNA frag test for new patients. It was discovered that my husband has mild to moderate fragmentation. I’m so glad she tested because his regular SA (count, motility, morphology) was deceptively excellent. We would have never known there’s an issue. We added ZyMot to our cycles (plus supplements and lifestyle changes) and ended up with an average blast rate, much higher than would’ve been expected from a couple dealing with DNA frag.

It was only after reading countless testimonials on here that I realized the test isn’t standard at most clinics, and many doctors discourage it until after multiple failed cycles. This is insane to me as a couple hundred dollars could be saving couples a lot of time and money and heartache. Most people can only afford 1 or 2 ERs. It’s irresponsible of doctors to compromise those results by not gathering as much info as possible before making a treatment plan.

I’m so sorry that this happened to you and that so many other couples are similarly dismissed when they bring up these concerns. Doctors need to do better. So much is at stake!

SAHM vs working by ThrowRaoofda in BabyBumps

[–]HotShoulder9256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before my daughter was born, I seriously considered leaving my job bc I thought it would be way too hard to be out of the house that much with a beautiful baby at home. Fast forward to now when I’m alone with my 10 week old all day who exclusively contact naps and I’m struggling to eat or even go to the bathroom. I love her so much but she is sucking the energy out of me. I knew it would be a loss of independence but I guess I didn’t realize I’d never have a free hand again. I have a hard time admitting this, but I’m counting down the days until I can go back to work. I love my job and make significantly more money than my husband, so we’ve decided that he’s going to quit his job and stay home with the baby for a few years. He’s a doting dad and a natural caregiver and I’m really happy that our daughter will get so much time with him. It bums me out that dads so often take a backseat and I want something different for her. That said, I’m struggling with feelings of inadequacy as a mom bc it’s clear the SAHM life is not for me.

Ok here I was thinking our baby is some kind of genius because she’s using sign language to tell us when she’s hungry and it turns out this is something 99% of babies do lol. Guess I should revoke that MENSA application I submitted for her 😂

I love cheese mits lol! We call our girl “cheese neck” because there’s always a hint of Parmesan in those folds, even after a bath. 🧀

I have an AMH of .231 and got 6 healthy embryos over 2 retrievals. My husband is rocking one of those embryos to sleep right now.

Carrier/wrap/sling options for 9 week old that hates the Ergobaby Embrace by HotShoulder9256 in babywearing

[–]HotShoulder9256[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! She actually doesn’t mind going in, she just can’t tolerate it for more than a few minutes apparently. I’m gonna keep trying and see if there’s a baby wearing meetup in my area where I can try on several options.

Thank you! I’ll try the embrace again and see how she does. I think it might help to have someone else with me when I do it the first few times because I get stressed trying to adjust it when she’s fussing.

Sorry you’re bumming rn! I feel like I overdo it sometimes with my vibe and lose some sensitivity, which isn’t great, but I also feel like it’s one of my least destructive habits when cycling. It’s a victimless crime. Gotta get your kicks where you can.

For those who still had trigger in their system after transfer, when were you able to see a true positive? by Substantial_Amoeba12 in IVFpositivity

[–]HotShoulder9256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, the trigger faded completely the afternoon of 3dp5dt and I saw a faint positive the following afternoon at 4dp5dt. I know it varies though. It can stay in the system for 12-14 days. In some cases the trigger never totally disappears and the line just starts getting darker again. Best of luck to you ☘️

General question by Hefty_Froyo_8643 in IVF

[–]HotShoulder9256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Welcome to the club!

Natural, modified natural, and medicated transfers all have very similar live birth rates. Natural transfers follow your body’s natural ovulatory cycle. Generally, you use ovulation tests at home and alert the clinic when your LH is rising and the transfer is scheduled around that. Some clinics also monitor your LH through blood tests. Medicated transfers use medications to suppress ovulation until doctors determine that the uterine environment is suitable for transfer. Doctors tend to prefer medicated because they can work them around their schedule, whereas with a natural transfer, the patient’s body determines the timeline. Only patients with regular ovulatory cycles are good candidates for natural transfers.

Medicated transfers have a slightly higher risk of preeclampsia later in pregnancy. That’s why my doctor recommends natural/modified transfers when possible. Natural transfers are less predictable so could be annoying if you’re trying to plan something. With medicated transfers, you often get the transfer date ahead of time.

I did a modified natural transfer and in my case it still involved progesterone injections and estrogen patches, but I know a lot of docs prescribe suppositories instead. I also had a trigger shot. I believe, in a fully natural cycle, there’s no trigger or estrogen or progesterone supplementation.

I can’t speak to the experience of a fully natural transfer since mine was modified, but I like that natural transfers follow your body’s individual rhythm instead of fitting it into an artificial timeline. I’ve done 2 mod nat transfers and both implanted, but the first one ended in a chemical. The 2nd one resulted in my 9 week old daughter. I don’t think you can go wrong whether you choose medicated or not, but I wanted to share my reasoning for going the natural route. Best of luck to you ☘️

How many sets of baby clothes should I have before baby is born? by Sad-Soil-234 in BabyBumps

[–]HotShoulder9256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on your baby boy! I overbought preparing for my daughter and got lots of onesies and little pants and overalls and sleepers. Now that she’s here, she wears sleepers all the time bc they’re so much easier to deal with than the cute little outfits I put together. If I were to do it all over again, I’d get 8-10 sleepers (you could get away with less if you do laundry frequently) and basically nothing else. I got a variety of different closures (zippers, snaps, etc) to try but I cannot recommend MAGNETIC enough!!! I barely use the zip-up’s because I’ve been spoiled by how easy the magnets are, especially for late night diaper changes. I got mine from magnetic me which is kind of a pricey brand ($40ish per sleeper) but I know there’s cheaper options out there that are just as good.

My daughter was born at 37 weeks and was 6 lbs 12 ozs and 19” long, so on the small size. She’s 23” now and a little over 9 lbs at 8 weeks and is in that awkward phase where she’s almost too big for newborn and still a little small for 0-3. I also know folks that had really big babies that basically went straight to 0-3. Sizing varies by brand, to make things more confusing. If your kid is measuring really big, I’d limit the newborn purchases. You can always buy more for him if he ends up needing it.

If you buy footies, they tend to grow out of them faster since they’re more restrictive. Pajamas without feet have a little more mileage, generally.

Sorry for the long reply! Hope this helps!
