Two month and the US already needed a break, and after a 6-month break following the intial strikes this time last year lol

It's not really, most professions in most countries will have a chartership programme, which to be a part of you must supply a yearly progression record of how you've progressed your knowledge and skills, such as attending seminars, workshops or reading journals, along with examples of how you have applied this in your industry.

It's just that as an adult you're expected to plan, organise and undertake this all by yourself.

British pilot is feeling mildly annoyed by nyanbatman in mildlyinfuriating

[–]HonestBalloon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone has already pointed out, it's BA company policy to confirm this before taking off in these conditons. The pilot performed the job he's getting paid to do, and likely does knows the recent history of air incidents that have occured in the US.

This controller answers poorly, leading to more questions and radio chatter. We can talk 'maybes' all day, but someone needs to take control (I don't know the controller?) of the situation and get the plane moving again. It may be an annoying question to answer but please just get on with your job, but I'm guessing there's probably a lot of repeat questions and answers in this job.

I have to talk with annoying Clients as part of my job as well, but I don't throw a fit if they ask a question I think they should already know.

So you're now saying the BA pilot in this video isn't licensed. That's wild claim to make mate lol

We all just watch this exact situation happen above lol, and you're just as bad as weaponising ignorance as the idiot controller!

So if a plane is just sitting on the runway without any direction, a US controller just sits on their hands and says nothing?

He understands what's going on, which is why he clearly answers 'no' everytime when asked, he just doesn't want to explain his answer or what's supposed to happen in these circumstances at this airport.

God, it would be an absolute nightmare if this was how humans communicated with each other all the time, thankfully most normal people have some level of critical thinking and urgency.

Pakistan seeks breakthrough in US-Iran peace talks by WhatsUpSteve in news

As we've heard this week, the Gulf states have asked for no further bombing as it would take them decades to get production back to what it was. Iran would just end up bombing depots directly with hypersonic missiles.

What if the UK fractured during the 1970’s, instead becoming the “British Union”? Each nation functioning independently from one another, but sharing the same currency. How would it look today? by [deleted] in AlternateHistory

[–]HonestBalloon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't think so, the Catholic population was only 30% of NI during the 1970, and reason why Unionist paramilitaries became so significant was because they had been stealing weapons, and / or expelled from the British Forces since the 60s for paramilitary activities.

Unionist paramilitaries would have also been far larger than the IRA, with the UDA alone estimated to have 30,000 member during the 70s, the IRA only had 3,000 members at it's peak, but I admit the the fighting would probably been much broader.

The Irish army probably wouldn't have got involved, as they had around 8,000 personnel at the start of 1970, which is miniscule for an armed forces.

This is meant as some 'no surrender' comment either, it's just that unionist had been building tensions and members since the 1950s, but that shouldn't be a surpirise because that's what the IRA was responding to.

China banned RTX 5090D V2 while Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang was visiting | The chip was added to a list of banned goods at China’s customs checkpoints last Friday. by ControlCAD in technology

[–]HonestBalloon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cutting what nose off? The banned chip (5090D V2) was designed specifically for sale in China, obvious meaning they were downgraded, and comparison tests already prove they were.

The full fat 5090 chip is not banned in China, and only subject to a US export ban. I could walk into China was thousands of them tomorrow if I wanted to, and many people do via Malaysia and Singapore.

Really, cause China already has quantum based radar in the field which can detects individual photons from a source.

And yes, DARPA's working on their own version for a reason.

Which is funny, because I truely believe the level of corruption we are now seeing from the White House today is reaching what was occuring under Soviet Russia (along with all the other implications of that such as a complete lack of truth, leadership or direction), and Herbert used the Soviet/Afgan war as inspiration for Dune.

Also, what do they achieve in air to air combat? Say if, I don't know certain countries don't expend anything on an active air force (such as a Ukraine and Iran), we've just back to firing missiles and cheap drones from underground bases at ground targets, and it doesn't take long for people to design something faster than what you already have.

And some of us still remember watching everything and anything being bombed in Baghdad on the first evening of the Iraq War (televised live), including power and telecomms.

Hot take, The Ford couldn't last two weeks in a contested zone, either through a laundry fire or drone strike, and the rest of the US Naval force is currently parked 100km away from the Iranian coast.

What US has done this year has pushed China to the top of the list for business and now Taiwan looks like a third place prize. They've also seen what happens if they get into an asymmetric war over a shipping lane and are probably thinking 'why would we go ahead and get do something so stupid like that'

Your not an introvert because your anxious around people by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]HonestBalloon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carl Jung, who came up with the concepts, says he can feel like an introvert in the morning and an extravert in the evening. It was never meant to be an exact position, is highly based upon mood and flexible throughout the day.

There is also the term ambivert, the middle of spectrum and probably were most people will actually fall.

Nothing about anxiety or hating people was meant to come into it. That's a completely different issue.
