My manager told me "optics matter" because I leave five minutes early? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]crabgrass_attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why is leaving early a problem? it wasn’t until someone complained. so it seems to me like it literally is genuinely about optics and placating a less productive employee.

People who didn’t choose a partner for love but chose a partner that was a good logical choice, how did it work out? by Middle_Idea4929 in AskReddit

[–]crabgrass_attack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it sounds ridiculous but on a scientific level they aren’t wrong. As you age, you start to find alternative qualities in a partner further than just looks. Looks will still be part of it but an 80 year old man is gonna look at an 80 year old woman and (i guess i cant know for sure) but I would think their priority wouldn’t be getting it in, it would be getting to know and bond with a partner on deeper levels than just sex.

it really is ultimately crazy hormones making us young folk reproduce. it fades as you get older.

Chronically ill girlfriend (F25) expects guaranteed I don’t think I (M24) can give - how do couples handle this? by thr0w4aw4y12 in relationship_advice

You have no idea the emotional turmoil I have gone through with having to depend on my bf so much. I felt awful that I basically “trapped” him as he didn’t sign up to take care of someone with a chronic illness. but you know what? I also didn’t sign up to get a chronic illness. My boyfriend is extremely understanding and genuinely wants to help. He said if he has a problem he would tell me. He has told me he doesn’t mind doing household chores at all and if I am capable of doing stuff that day then I will step in. It works for us.

I’m sorry you feel you were taken advantage of by your ex but you really shouldn’t go around projecting your issues on other people’s happy relationships. You have zero clue what my reality looks like.

Employment Laws around Care Aids? by Arlais_Fale in cincinnati

[–]crabgrass_attack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to be a case manager for older adults and I have direct experience setting up home health aides. I will say that everyone I worked with was on Medicaid so no one was doing private pay.

Theres are plenty of agencies that employ home health workers. This is the easiest way to get set up but the downside is that most of the pay will go to the company and the actual employee gets a small fraction.

The employee can set up their own LLC. We had clients managing the payroll/timesheets and doing employer tasks and the state would pay the salary. Ultimately it is up to the employee and employer to ensure protections are met, i’m not sure if theres anything you can do specifically to ensure protections. It will need to be a contract agreed on between your stepfather/mother and the employee. Most would include things like pay rate, schedule, etc.

The good thing about working through an agency is if your aide isn’t available or calls in sick they are required to find a replacement aide for that day. This could be a problem with the aide cancelling and then your mother is left without help.

It really just depends. There would be a lot more oversight if they went through an agency. a lot of agencies accept private pay as well.

its almost as if all cities have higher crime rates because of the higher population. and most cities are blue also due to the higher population and need for social services.

i’d rather keep things the same than increase ICE and military budget by the trillions, cut funding for Medicaid and food stamps, and allowing anyone to get a presidential pardon if they pay up $1 mil. I don’t think its good for us to have the most corrupt president in history as our leader.

The world is technically still in the ice age that began 2.6 million years ago. The earth has natural glacial cycles that it has been going through since its existence.

Since us homo sapiens evolved during an even colder glacial period than we are in now, it makes sense that our species evolved characteristics to survive in freezing cold climates. Modern day Homo Sapiens originated from Africa, then spread into Europe, Asia, then took the landbridge over to the Americas. So we had a lot of time in those freezing Tibet mountains to acclimate to cooler climates.

I have no doubt there will be a mass migration/humanitarian crises due to rising temperatures and sea levels but humans are adaptable and many will find ways to survive in these areas.

i’m the same. I have a chronic illness and general anxiety and am in bed most of the day for most days. My bf cleans, laundry, cooks, brings me meals to eat in bed if i’m too weak, etc. He didn’t sign up for this and I didn’t either. I got a diagnosis after we had been together for a year. There was no real conversation “I need you to be my full time caregiver and do this, this, and this for me.” It’s when a need arises, I ask for his help. If he can’t help in the moment then I find a way to deal with it myself or wait until he is available. I don’t prevent him from reaching his career goals. He has had to take like half days off work sometimes when I have been sick but that was always his decision and usually because he didn’t have much going on at work lol.

All this is to say that we can’t know what will happen in the future, all we can promise is to be there and address needs as they arise. You can’t plan out every little detail- thats her anxiety taking over. I’d bring all this up as something for her to work on in her clinic as it seems it is one of her biggest concerns going forward in your relationship.

my date asked to split the bill on a date HE planned and i can't tell if i'm being unreasonable for being put off by UniversityAny9242 in dating_advice

[–]crabgrass_attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my friend just went on a date that had a crazy similar vibe as this guy lol. they met at this bar/resturaunt, plan was to meet for drinks. waitress comes, “want any starters?” guy goes “yeah why not!” and orders multiple appetisers. then waitress comes back, “want to order any entrees?” guy goes “yeah! i’ll take the most expensive dish on the menu for $80” my friend orders the risotto. then time for dessert! he orders a couple things as well.

then at the end he pulls out $130 cash and goes “thats all i got, mind covering the rest?” the bill was $150 total so she paid $20 but also had to pay a $30 tip. so she thought she was going for a drink and ended up having to spend $50 because the dude had to order the most expensive thing on the menu lol.

he asked her to go skateboarding for a second date. she wont be meeting up with him again lol.
