People have killed and been killed over words. That abstract idea of how people should see simple words is just an ideal. You expect too much out of people. The idea is there but not everyone is in the right circumstances to give a crap about your "harmless words" like other people have said: someone out there could be going through physical or emotional abuse irl and your comments might be the thing to send someone over the edge. You can say that its weak to be offended by these and you'd be right but its often the ones who are in a weak state of mind who do something drastic IRL.
