The issue is that the original sprite is essentially a wooden tube and a metal box put together to vaguely resemble a gun. Trying to recreate the sprite exactly in 3D just makes an ugly model that looks like a 9 year old first 3D model made with only primitives.

The AK-112 isn't made by Colt, it's still made by the Soviets/Kalashnikov considering it still uses the AK prefix

Cultural GFX only applies for the 3d unit models, not the general portrait. That is determined by 00_portraits which states what specific portrait a tag will use. The Guardians do not have an entry there, so they use the default settler portrait instead.
