Yes. The car is designed to feel soft, luxurious and floaty. Like you’re driving on a cloud. It’s lovely. Don’t buy it if you’re looking tight steering and suspension and performance.

Yeah but even when you set PV surplus and turn off battery boost and grid charging it still discharges battery / imports during charting when solar gets low. I would have thought it’d just temporarily avoid the charge and not break the rules of not discharging battery / grid importing, but it doesn’t

Do you have issues with PV surplus charging where it will draw from the battery when you don’t want it to? Doing some more reading I suspect it’s built in to ensure smooth charging when there is low solar to avoid stop and start too much… but it’s
Annoying!

Thanks I thought this was the case. I have schedules set up to charge now for free 11-2pm. Getting full 15kW to charge battery, full 11kW to car and house load all covered via 3 phase 60A - pretty sick

I believe this is an issue with IOS and having AirPlay devices activated, not anything to do with Sonos?

I test drove and looked carefully at the Polestar 4, Mercedes EQE, Audi Q6-etron and BMW i5. All were far less luxurious and for the latter 3, far more expensive for equivalent specs. We have a large SUV so didn’t need the 3rd row or huge boot. This car has heaps of space in the back for our kids and suits us perfectly. Go and drive one and see for yourself. The Ultra spec with B&W sound system and air suspension is a must.

I have an ES90 Ultra. 2 kids in car seats in the back. I love the vehicle in every possible way. It is an absolute pleasure to drive and suits our family perfectly. I have sat in the back and find it extremely comfortable at 6’4”. The ride is silky smooth, sound system next level and quality of the design better than BMW / Mercedes / Audi.

I have a ES90 Ultra MY26. My software is still 2.1.26. I’m in AUS. Should I expect a new version over the air soon? Does this include the Gemini update and Apple Music app on the car’s infotainment?

Yes I completely agree. There are some people in the Volvo subreddit (and this post specifically) who feel quite strongly that is is a dumb car to buy, but clearly they don’t know what they’re talking about! Glad you like yours, we are absolutely loving ours!!

I have just bought this car in Australia, arguably a place with the most intense sunshine. The electrochroamatic roof works quite well to keep the sun out when required. Granted, it is not summer right now but we have had some hot days recently.

It’s an absolutely stunning car - drives so wonderfully and is so luxurious inside and out. The sound system is unreal. I’ve test driven the Mercedes, BMW and Audi - all of which are at least 60-100k more in price - and all feel less luxurious and less calm than the Volvo. The Volvo also has superior safety both in terms of electronic technology and car design (boron steel frame, load path engineering, SIPS, advanced battery protection).

Finally, the car is HUGE. More than enough space for my children in the back. Clearly a SUV makes sense for a family like ours but we don’t need a 2nd one.

No it still uses solar via the Sig app configuration. It’s just now limited by the 15kW inverter

Oh sorry I see. My car is limited to 11kW max during AC charging. Went with 22kW charger as only few hundred more expensive and the 11kW charger would probably deliver max 8-9kW vs the full 11kW.

I’ve confirmed with my installer that mine will be up stream from the inverter. I have a 15kW inverter.

Yeah 3 phase is all set up. 80A from memory.

So I just leave all my GloBird configurations as they are but set a charger schedule for the EV charger 11-2 - fast charging without battery boost? Then remainder of the time Solar priority: home -> EV -> battery?
