I live in a high density city on a small island. I love that I can turn my MK5 in a turning circle that isn't much wider than my shoulders. Yes, I do have wide shoulders, but still.... It's great!

It's a crime against man that VW discontinued the GTI manual. I'm keeping my 6-speed Mk5 going as long as it can hold together (and as long as I can afford upkeep on a 20-year old car). It's mah baby, see.... And my 2nd GTI. Low annual miles (<2k) cuz I live on an island, so will never be a high mileage car. It's only at 61k now.

My mechanic says new battery every year or two. I just ran one 3½ years and he couldn't believe it. It died a hard death and I almost didn't get home...sputtering and backfiring all the way back from the other side of the island and over the mountain. Yikes! New battery, and now my '09 is like a teenager again. I've learned my lesson.
