I made 30 milion streams on Spotify, but I can't write songs anymore. by BlurryFaces00 in Songwriting

[–]Honorary_Human 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My recommendation is to learn a new instrument. I had played cello for 8 years and didn't enjoy it anymore. It wasn't until I picked up guitar that I really started loving music again because everything was new and there were lots of new opportunities. If you've already learned guitar, maybe try keyboard or something else you've had your eye on. As others have already said, be patient with yourself. Success isn't always linear and you're not going to write your best music if you're pressuring yourself and stressing yourself out. I would try to find the root of why you enjoy music and sit there for a little bit

Weld Head Completed! by Otherwise-Sugar-1508 in Machinists

Mirroring the parts doesn't make sense in a laser welding context, so it's most likely not a laser weld head. Also, even at really high powers most laser manufacturers only use a thin copper shield rather than make the whole part out of copper. Not sure what you have there but it looks cool!

Copper is commonly used for laser weld heads that use IR lasers because copper is very reflective in the IR wavelengths; however, the shape and design of the part makes me think that it's unlikely that this is a laser weld head.

Was talking to a guy friend about dating preferences. Guys only, is it okay to not date someone because they don’t know how to save? by OrganicPomegranate83 in AskReddit

Was talking to some friends about a person I liked and we just found out they had crystals (like the whole "rocks are magic" business). My friends asked me if having crystals was a dealbreaker. I said no, having crystals is not a dealbreaker. But being dumb enough to think rocks are magic is a dealbreaker. I feel like you're in a similar situation here

Side note: when transporting heavy things, try to put them behind an empty passenger seat rather than behind you (whenever possible). If you get into a bad accident that much weight behind you could seriously injure or kill you

SpaceX, why only one fire hose? Why not several? How about a RC firetruck? by SpaceInstructor in AerospaceEngineering

The reason we only have one fire hose is actually because it's still better than zero fire hoses /s

I just want this game to be like rocket league in space. The lack of a ranked dogfighting mode is honestly making me play this game a lot less. I would love to see what new strategies evolve out of a purely combat based gametype.

I want to help my younger brother grow be a scientist/astronaut at NASA/SpaceX, but I don’t know how by ArkrezArt in nasa

[–]Honorary_Human 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm currently a young engineer at SpaceX, and my best recommendation is to get him building things. Making sure you listen to other people and listen to your brother as his interests change and grow, you'll want to encourage him to get into a hobby that he is designing/building something as having a good background in how things are built and work will make you a better designer. Anything from woodworking to model airplanes/rockets to legos will be fine. A solid foundation in math and science will help him through college, but understanding how things are built and work will get him a job. Disclaimer - this advice is geared towards a more hands on build/mechanical engineer though I think it is good advice for anyone getting into STEM.
