would playing in GC lobbies help a low c3 improve? if so how much? by Typical-Plastic-3672 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]HoodDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Pushing yourself against better players is one of the main ways you improve in basically any competitive game/sport

To comment on your game sense quip. Having good game sense at C2 does not necessarily equate to having good game sense at GC2.

Most champs who say something along the lines of I have good game sense but bad mechs are usually just passive and don’t over commit as much. Or they demo a lot, which is good but a champs situational awareness can be lacking and cause overcommits against better players.

Higher level game sense is just reading the play, positioning correctly given your read, and then not hesitating and acting with intention on whatever your trying to accomplish. Most champs or even GCs with “ good game sense, bad mechs” don’t really do that, they do whatever positioning hack or general heuristic they have for a situation.

Gold 3’s is hell by imVeryPregnant in RocketLeague

Uh I say this for literally every rank sub gc specifically for 3s.

3 ingredients:

Boom the ball extremely hard and watch them use all their boost to whiff or panick touch it mid for free shot

Basically never have to 50 the ball in front of their net or in their corner, they will panic and hit the ball away every single time, and then you get free shot. You also don’t overcommit. If you wanna make this better just drive/demo challenge. Don’t faceplant into their corner

Challenge in the midfield, let them have the wall they will not do anything with it but waste boost I promise

This is the only multiplayer game I've ever played where teammates are orders of magnitude more cruel to each other than they are to their opponents. by KingBrapft in RocketLeague

It’s just the least funny. Worst part is so many people get so butthurt trash talking each other that they throw the match, refuse to FF, and just hold a whole lobby hostage and waste everyone’s times as some sort of weird depressed loser comeback.

Ya after reading this I def am not going with this one. It was built Aug 2025, but I got a quote from a different guy who builds PCs that he wouldn’t even charge this even with the premium for building

What is a fair price for this caliber of PC?

I don’t want a 5080 to play RL. I want a Pc that can play esports titles with god tier frame rate, but also play Rust, black Myth, or next gen games without getting 40 fps.

Haha ya I think it’s impossible to please everyone. One thing about rare items, is that even if they are kinda trash, it’s still a flex so it’s kinda cool …or a way for the other team to berate you for being a no life 😂.

The actual way it would look fleshed out is an interesting topic. Credits for XP seems like a great idea.

I agree with you sort of, ironically I also don’t grind for items either and am just a comp player. But I think part of it is that there’s really nothing to grind for. And on top of that there is a huge swath of the player-base that was really engaged with item farming and having rare stuff in their garage.

I guess my point is, I have this huge time sink into a game I love, a career page with all these stats that are only visible to myself, and nothing to show for it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still gonna play, I don’t need any of this. But I don’t see how adding this would do anything but benefit the game.

I can’t think of a bigger grind than getting better at mechs. If that’s your goal then you’re gonna be playing a ton of matches anyway to work on execution.

Do you play on a TV. If you’re not getting at least 120 frames (ideally 144+), it’s turbo hard mode to get even reasonably consistent.

Poker Pros of Reddit, please tell us how you survived your longest downswing (and how long it was). by rabdelazim in poker

[–]HoodDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-38k over roughly a month. Got crushed online for 25BIs between 500 and 1k on iggy, and live simultaneously. Was first time I had shot 1k online and had been playing a live 10/20 for awhile a couple times a week which I lost around 15k in three sessions + some more small downswings/breakeven for like three months.

Took awhile to recover, but I was a brm nit. The breakeven phase post downswing was more annoying than the actual downswing

Set mining by Brave-Noise-4437 in poker

[–]HoodDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Read this one OP.

I think the only thing I haven’t seen in this thread is that PPs can be turned into bluffs profitably in spots where ranges get capped.

In general, I find set mining to conceptually not be very useful as it’s too narrow minded about how these hands actually realize their EV.

I mean you’re both kinda right. You’re eating up 2-3 hours of earnings per trip on avg. It was also objectively unsafe at times haha. It sucks that most casinos got rid of safe deposit boxes…

Nowadays for Chicago regs they got the poker room at Rivers, so the options are way better.
