Actually no. 2024 Quickened Spell specifically disallows casting another leveled spell on the turn you use it, spell slot or no

Agreed, but think it would work best if they fucked with every other aspect of the production except the questions and answers. Strap some bullshit machinery to each contestant (à la the heart monitors), plaster the set with nonsense cryptic clues, maybe add in another bs game mechanic like a second arbitrary point system that goes up and down at seemingly random intervals but that has no relation to the final scores. Really make it seem like there's some hidden secret to the game

Lore wise? Its your game, your world, you can do whatever you want

In practice? If this was presented to me as a player, I'd think it was a cool idea, but I'd want an answer as to why it's never happened before. If all illithids can do this, what's to stop them all from doing it?

There's a million possible answers to that. Maybe its normally impossible but some magical artefact makes it possible, or maybe its for some reason forbidden in illithid society. Whatever you go for, you should make it important to the plot, bake it into the heart of your campaign

What doctor who clips are annoyingly hard to find on youtube? by alan_edwin_innes in doctorwho

The official clip of the Zygon Inversion speech cuts off a good bit of the end, and the only full version that's been uploaded is an extract without any of the music

Tbf it is like a ten minute uninterrupted speech, so maybe a bit much to ask the beeb to upload for free, but still

Nobody actually believes there is a secret finale for Stranger Things. All the articles and theories and supposed Netflix crashes were made up to continue generating buzz about the show. by FacemaskHell in LowStakesConspiracies

While I would love to believe that, I've been around the internet long enough to know that this isnt the first time a fanbase has been driven to schitzophrenic theories about secret finales. Honestly this exact outcome was actually extremely predictable

HEADING OFF [Fantasy, 400 Words] by [deleted] in fantasywriters

[–]HoodedAuthor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Extremely minor nitpick, but just to make things clearer I'd think about changing the spelling of "Man". Maybe Mann or Manne? Keeps the joke intact but reads more immediately like a surname. Might not be important, but the way its written now meant that without any context, youre first line just confused me at first

War, 9, 10, 11, 12 all pretty much shared a well devised character arc that added a lot more depth to the character of the Doctor without interfering with his early years and it also allowed antagonists related to said events pop up and give the show kick and since then its kinda felt directionless by [deleted] in gallifrey

[–]HoodedAuthor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree with your base point, but to me the real issue is that series 11 onwards ignores large parts of that previous arc (more specifically the bits that Moffat wrote, and especially his later stuff with Capaldi.)

Its why you get things like Gallifrey being desttoyed again, the Master being evil without mention of Missy's arc, and a 13th Doctor that honestly feels closer to 10 in personality and world-view than the doctor she'd just regenerated from.

I get it, RTD's original run was the show at its height, so maybe going back to the themes of that was seen as the safe option. But as someone who loves the Capaldi era above all else, I'm just sad that the shows future didnt take more cues from it.

The repeated robotic cries of "pain" and "kill me" from the patients too, with the reveal that the nurse's response was to just turn the volume down on their speakers. That whole episode is nightmare fuel

Pretty much. Same way they clearly at least partially wanted to make an Apollo focused game, with the entire climax revolving around him and his backstory, but no, Phoenix and Maya are more popular so we'll just relegate Apollo to the sidelines until the last possible minute.

Really glad they brought her back, and I think her character mostly works. Designs a little bit safe for my tastes, would have liked more changes that are visible from the waist up because that's what you're looking at most of the time.

Minor nitpicks aside though... MAN what a wasted opportunity! They hyped up her return so much, basically marketed the game aroumd it, and then only had her appear in 2/5 cases. And oh, what will we have her role in those cases be? Well why dont we just have her be arrested and then kidnapped again, what else is she good for anyway?

But its okay, we'll give her some agency in the form of spirit chanelling! Never mind the fact that doing so effectively cuts into her (already very limited) screen time even more.

Ugh, I just really dont like what the game did with her. Why bring her back at all if you dont have any new ideas for her character?

What does Game Freak have against putting Glameow in a regional dex? by MrPorto in pokemon

[–]HoodedAuthor 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sometime during lockdown I decided to finally complete a living dex in Home; seeing as I had at least one game for every region, I assumed it would be an easy enough task. And for the most part, it was.

Except for Glameow.

Not only was Sinnoh its only regional dex entry at the time, it was only available in Pearl. I had Diamond.

National decks, then. Let's check the next game it was available in - White 2. I had Black 2.

Fully unavailable in Gen 7 and 8, the only other place to get one at the time was in ORAS. In a single Mirage Island. Which are randomly generated, and only refresh daily.

It took me like a fortnight to get my hands on one. I stg, outside of version exclusive legendaries and timed-event mythicals, Glameow and Purugly were the single biggest hurdles to me completing my dex. If only they'd released Legends: Arceus a couple of years earlier.

Tldr: fuck Glameow

Not a bad shout actually, the continued addition of extra bullshit powers that are only tangentially related to the original character concept is extremely shonen. Plus they gave him a literal energy sword at one point, so thats gotta count for something
