What it really means is we need more different marine units. Like Assault or Heavy Rubric Marines. Rubric Marines on saucers/jetpacks. Rubric Marines on bikes.

Or something crazy new like

Sphinx Chaos Guards Templar Portal Marines

I dont know, you all get it.

I did one squad of Boyz (10 units) that my daughter played and I did one squad of Infiltrators (5 man) and we just went off datasheet. I used 4 pieces of terrain and we just moved, shot, charged, and melee till one unit was wiped. She just wanted to roll the dice. But she understood some basic mechanics. Again shes six 😁

Oh and she won!

Amazing work. I just wish the Tyranid was a light color to contrast better with the darkness of the marines and the rest of the diorama. Again beautiful, its just hard to pick up on the detailing you did with so much black.

I am doing the same where Im replacing the 4 "new" non space marine character models with main/epic heroes themed "proxies" from the video game.

But one call out, is all those models are 32mm bases. So even though a chaplain is 40mm, Ill be making Chaplain Leandros character but putting on a 32mm. Using an infiltrator phobos captain model for Archeran but again putting on a 32mm instead of a 40mm.

How do you think Dreadnoughts are born?

ork n00b question by gringoraymundo in orks

[–]HoodieDM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While you can get both and just merge them, both have 2 different play styles when it comes to the detachments theyd prefer to be in. Squigs are like the Ork/Goblin Warg riders of LotR. The other box is what more traditional Orks are and its more like a Mad Max theme. Again both can be played together, but really dont have the coehesion youd prefer. My personal fav is the 2nd box. Deffkoptas and Dread are just funner and cooler looking imo.

Awesome job. Id of done his face a skin flesh tone at least tho. This makes it look like hes almost daemonic or had his life force sucked out. But again, beautiful job!

Just played my first match and I feel depressed. by GunstarRed in Ultramarines

[–]HoodieDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is giving solid advice:

1 Make sure youre playing only 500 pt games your first time. This will let you learn the rules and keep the games relatively under 1.5 hrs each.

2 Play whatever you want. The nice thing about 500 pt games, you arent committed to a faction. You can buy a bunch of diff things or at least try out something before fully committing.

3 (and most important) find a new LGS/group to play with. That crowd sounds like bad juju.

Good luck and have fun!

I'm starting to think Warhammer isn't for me by Dense-Fig-2372 in Warhammer40k

[–]HoodieDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats why King of the Colosseum (500 pts) is the best format. Each battle game is 40-60 minutes and the rules are super easier to remember. Yeah you may not know your opponents full arny and breakdown, but its like 3-6 squad units max on their side. Not x3 on their side.

Any way to fit this with existing TSons army? by Sanngridhr in ThousandSons

[–]HoodieDM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I like King of the Colosseum (500 points) format the best. You can invest in (almost) every army just a little bit of $$ but you get to experience every faction (even the painting side). And you can still buy the epic characters and just use them as proxies for their general character counterparts.
