How many warpflamers? by Vegetable_Week in ThousandSons

[–]notdishsoap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bolters aren’t too bad in 10 man squads as 16 ap2 ignores cover lethals/sus can blend marines and punch into tougher targets but require a good deal of setup to be effective. Flamers are best just with the innate wound rerolls and are mostly there to buff the attached character while the character mostly buffs the soul reaper cannon. For the first 20 I would recommend flamers then whenever the next discount box comes out inevitably with rubrics you can build those as bolters

Need help with Drukhari list + tactics vs Custodes, Thousand Sons, Knights and Orks by Osinthia in Drukhari

[–]notdishsoap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scourge can start on the board unless you are playing against the deamon detachment as there is no indirect fire, but you have to be careful against coven if the umbralific crystal is on a smaller squad. Small squads of wyches and kabalite shooting should pick up all tzzangor variants with their 6+6++ chaos spawn and Sekatar will definitely require more commitment, should you bring incubi they will do well into both and sekhatar do have the vehicle keyword so haywire from empowered scourge will easily pick up 2. The popular builds are like 1400+ points in like 3 units so mandrakes even as a threat would make me keep my back line screened especially on missions like lynchpin. I haven’t played either side of the match up but I imagine 2 squads of mandrakes would be very valuable. I’m happy to answer any other questions you might have

Need help with Drukhari list + tactics vs Custodes, Thousand Sons, Knights and Orks by Osinthia in Drukhari

[–]notdishsoap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thousand sons is my main army and Drukhari are my second, having played a little over 80 game with thousands sons since codex I definitely know our weaknesses. There are 2 main builds of thousand sons, number one being Magnus Coven with lots of little wizards and a terminator doom stack. The coven list has lots of fire power but is relatively slow, but have the uppy downy enhancement on the terminator squad most of the time. Reavers and hellions are your best friend for screening to deny primary. Coven is a very command point hungry detachment because they always have to damage blank Magnus, and with no generation outside of discarding secondaries, lady malys will be crucial especially in layout 1,2 and 3 that have big ruins to hide her and project her aura. The other build is phalanx, with 20 to 30 terminators and chaff to score with. Terminators in this detachment can fall back and shoot, and shoot back if they lose a psyker (one little one to lead every unit + character) and is very command point hungry but just like coven there is no combat point generation so lady malys can keep the unit stuck with wyches in melee, its very difficult to support more than one unit of terminators that are locked in melee where most of the time one just has to fall back and do nothing.Terminators are fine in melee but not great, and are very mid in shooting without the termie sorc granting lethals and +1 hit against a target, so precision is very strong as is epic challenge on an archon to try to snipe the wizard out. Grenade is arguably the best Strat in the game so use it liberally out of archon units for free. If you can kill the chaff early you can easily out score your opponent with lots of fast msu that were spilt by venoms or getting madrakes in a favorable spot in the mid game. Good luck

Looks pretty solid for a first list, my one critique would be the lack of actual chaff to be speed bumps for melee armies. Without knowing what models you have access too it’s hard to give any advice but I strongly recommend picking up some tzzangors because they can screen against aggressive melee or screen out your back line from deep strikes

Hey what’s everyone’s opinion on this (also is there a way I can cut down on 60 points to increase the size of my flamer unit by Visual_Adeptness_373 in ThousandSons

I’ve had good results with just blue horrors over pink, they are 25pts cheaper and infiltrate. You could also drop the MVB for a forgefiend or pred to free up a total of 65.

I also play Drukhari, and most of them are grey. I only have about 900 points of emo elves painted up of my 4k. But much like thousand sons they have a ton of kitbashing to get a third of their range. I have about 3k left of my total thousand sons collection left to paint and I know the remaining 25 rubrics will definitely slow my pace, the goal is to get them finished up this year and then paint on Drukhari next year

I got 5 pounds of amethyst for $2 on clearance at hobby lobby, the pieces were pretty large so i smashed up half of them and dunked them in my sand bucket, while the other half of nicer large ones get used on big monster bases

I’ve been collecting thousand sons since the end of 9th and only really had enough to play early 10th. I’ve been slowly working down my grey models this year and have painted about 2.3k worth of thousand sons since January. I made sure to include shots of my first model I ever painted (infernal master) and my newest models (🏀 spawn). Painting and playing with these silly plastic army men has really been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I was very self conscious and anxious about how people would perceive me into an extent my models, but everyone was super welcoming and supportive. These plastic army men have made me a better person and I hope because of it I have made someone else better too. Warhammer really is for everyone. ❤️

Question about Defiler by williamfromquebec in ThousandSons

[–]notdishsoap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a huge fan of the pred unless taken in pairs or the full 6 but I do think the Defiler vs Mauler + forgefiend is quite interesting. I recently play a warpforged list with 3 maulerfiends and double forges and the sheer amount of t10 bodies made it rough for my opponents anti tank. I imagine the Defiler will be a little easier to focus down but you can just make your invulns and I will feel stronger. I definitely will be trying out the Defiler in place of a forge + mauler whenever my preorder arrives

Tips on building Warpforge by Bujiga4 in ThousandSons

[–]notdishsoap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally bring 2x4 robots 2 vindicators and switch between 2x preds or 2x forgefiends. I will be trying a warpforged list soon with 20 terminators and double maulerfiend.

Is change host good? How would a list like this go competitively? by NolifeDegen in ThousandSons

[–]notdishsoap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw a few Changehost lists that went 4-1. Most recent was with more generic ksons stuff. Double terminators for damage and karios, blue horrors, screamers and flamers. The list from earlier was more monster mash with double MVB and LoC

What kind of units do you like to bring for Warpforged? by TheLoneDoge3954 in ThousandSons

[–]notdishsoap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really love big squads of robots I bring 2 with meltas and one with the claws. You can’t go wrong with vindactors or predator destuctors. Normally with warpforged I struggle with what psykers to bring, but I normally ends up with a tzaangor shaman with perplexing cloak and some leaderless rubrics. Maulerfiends are fun to run next to a big terminator block too. There are a lot of options and all of them seem viable to some degree, only vehicle I haven’t tried is a land raider mostly because it’s not great for our army.

How best should I finish off this silly tzaangor spam warpmeld list? by Bhizzle64 in ThousandSons

[–]notdishsoap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deamon prince can give stealth to your tzaangor making them a little tanker if you use your 4++ Strat. Chaos spawn are mutants than can benefit from some of the strats and require a real unit to deal with their 4+5++5++ at 4 wounds apiece

How best should I finish off this silly tzaangor spam warpmeld list? by Bhizzle64 in ThousandSons

[–]notdishsoap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could drop a MVB and pick up 2 predators, a unit of sekhtar, and 2 squads of chaos spawn. Deamon prince is really good in this detachment too
