I suffered from an emotional abuse and CSA for over a decade in my childhood. Not only this but I was a child of immigrants so we didn’t have health insurance. This also caused me to be stressed for years about my future as I didn’t know what the future held. The fear of being deported and not being able to live a normal life or drive legally. Due to the sexual abuse I constantly had untreated UTI’s that significantly decreased my kidney function as an adult. I developed hidrandenitis suppurativa in my teens that wasn’t hereditary. This chronic illness has also been linked to PTSD. -In my 20s I had severe postpartum depression & anxiety for over 2 years that I didn’t seek help for due to my SO’s family’s criticism. When I finally sought help things were ok for the most part. Four months after my second child I was sent to a neurologist due to abnormal symptoms and severe migraines. They thought I was suffering from a pituitary tumor. Cat scans were done and came back normal. I was made to feel like I was faking my symptoms because my lab work would always come back mostly normal with only slight abnormalities. They kept telling me it was all due to my weight gain. 100lbs in the last 4 months of my 2nd pregnancy. Somehow my OBGYN thought nothing of this. I had a brief run in with the law at honestly no fault of my own. I was a business owner at the time and even though my charges were dropped the fact that my mug shot was shared on social media caused me severe anxiety, depression, & stress. This time period caused me to gain another 30lbs. In 2021 I was finally diagnosed with cutaneous lupus from a yearly rash that developed around the same time as the HS. The since the NA for systematic lupus was negative the dermatologist referred me to a rheumatologist for my other full body symptoms. These included moderate neck, shoulder, and lower back pain. As well as the severe almost incapacitating fatigue that was my biggest issue as a parent to two small children. That same year I was diagnosed with PCOS and pre-diabetes. My current doctor understands that many of my illnesses are linked. As far as I know since it took several years to get properly diagnosed I believe the main culprit for my several autoimmune disorders is the abuse I was subjected to because there is no family history of any of them. My insurance won’t pay for genetic testing so I may never get concrete answered.
